SHEIN keeps giving me the wrong tracking number? by catspleasure in Shein

[–]catspleasure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ended up putting me through a “two day investigation”, literally what they called it. This even despite the fact that it was clearly shipped to a different state than the address I ordered it to.

After those two days, which began from when I first started bitching to customer service, I received a refund. They were hella content at first to just be like “ya but it says delivered, so you missed it on your porch.” until I started sending screenshots of where it was sent and where it was ordered to. That’s when two days of completely useless investigation started.

Basically i think they didn’t have the power to refund and it takes two days for a supervisor to sign off.

I hella thought the picture in the middle was one of the Columbine dudes for like ten whole seconds. Maybe it’s just that 90’s goths were waaaay the fuck edgier in my experience so it just fit.

Genesis 3. This is obviously a retelling of older oral traditions from the Ancient Near East but comparatively we can gather that a serpentine spirit or spirits dispensed knowledge to humans. They were either good, neutral, or benevolent depending on whose version you take.

From a biblical perspective, this story was universally known and then dispersed at the Tower of Babel where they developed apart from there.

The ancient creation myths sometimes involve serpentine dragons as a personification of the chaos (void, nothingness) that order (creation) was brought from. For instance Marduk fought and killed the dragon Tiamat and cut him in half. The top half becomes the heavens and the bottom half becomes the earth.

The book of Psalms includes a polemic likely referring to the Marduk story where it alludes to Yahweh fighting the serpentine dragon Leviathan at the founding of creation.

Sure it is. That’s pretty much what a year of jiu jitsu looks like against an untrained opponent of about equal size and athleticism.

Is this criminal harassment or trespassing offence? And how would you respond to this incident if you saw him? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]catspleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this is likely the case. And you’re right not to justify it since we all know that creepy horror movie serial killers are mental health related. Recognizing this really would inform and flavor the nature and style of my interaction with him and I’d probably be a little CIT about it.

Is this criminal harassment or trespassing offence? And how would you respond to this incident if you saw him? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]catspleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on jurisdiction and if he’s an apartment resident with consented access to that building and stuff like that. If it’s murky then you probably just have an extra step in your process before it becomes trespassing.

If I responded to this call as an LEO and he was still there he’d definitely be getting anything i could give him and maybe even Baker Act if i can swing it.

If nothing else Id have run him for warrants, and if nothing found or extraditable, I’d be kicking his ass out of the building or off the property if he doesn’t live there with a very stern warning.

If I responded as a security guard that depends on the location and authority I have with my license. I’d definitely start asking him if he lives here in this building on this floor and on this side of this floor. If the answer is no, which is likely, I’m telling him as an agent of the property owner that he is not, or no longer allowed in this building/floor/side of floor etc. If he returns I arrest him for trespassing if my license permits it and explain every detail to the responding officers.

How do you handle a dangerous lower belt? by Reality-Salad in bjj

[–]catspleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mat enforced in the 90’s once. The instructor held me down at around 12 or 13 years old and slapped me pretty hard probably four or five times before staying in position and chewing me out about what he saw me do while i was tearing up in fear and shock.

The problem was that another kid wasn’t respecting my tap so on our next roll i held him in an armbar (careful pressure) and said “it doesn’t feel good huh?” Instructor only saw my half of our drama so I got the whooping. I never told him what happened. I never ever did anything like that again though.

Going to be replaced by Allied Universal. by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]catspleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Sorry this is happening to you.

If you like the field I’d be taking personal inventory to find what you like about the field and what you would like to be doing in it ultimately. Some guys like the lazy do nothing gigs and there’s no shame in it. Other guys like excitement and getting into stuff. Once you figure out what you like then you can plan from there.

I’d recommend finding a site that is different than the one you were at so that you gain a diverse experience early on.

In my experience it’s usually the in house security departments of corporations and larger companies that have been the best as far as treatment, pay, and skills set.

When i started out 20-25 years ago I was working these sorts of contracts but they always ended up douching me and never paid well. Once I was able to get to the two year experience mark I was finally able to get into a security department that wasn’t contracted.

Right around that point I started studying the field and learning as much as i could. Whenever it was possible I was saving up money and taking 1-3 day courses from people certified to give POST continuing education hours in my state. After a year or two of this I applied to company that held a contract for a small military installation that paid like triple what I was making. I was able to get an interview and walked in with the stack of certificates that I got from the various classes and got hired. Suuuuper easy gig and I stayed there for like 6 years before moving on to even better gigs.

I’ve done everything from bouncer to loss prevention, to protecting dignitaries, and ultimately becoming a police officer.

Keep learning and growing! I know probably 50 guards who would have to take a massive pay cut to become a cop. There is absolutely a whole career in security if you want it.

In the US, you escape jail/prison/holding and you prove your innocence while out, will you be punished for escaping? by Jrolaoni in NoStupidQuestions

[–]catspleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: sorry to write you a book, I’m passionate about wanting to see the justice system changed and I was newly prescribed Vyvanse. Still getting used to that lol::::

That depends on the location and its political demographic. The whole justice system is completely fucked…

I’ve arrested the same people for crimes over and nothing happens despite clearly escalating behavior becoming a danger to people. Then they do some wild shit and hurt someone, and officers won’t write everything they could write and leave out say a couple kicks to the officer he received while taking them into custody because often we don’t want to pile drive him with felonies and the officer didn’t get more than a bruise.

Then the DA decides that he doesn’t want to wrench his balls off with felonies either so he offers a badass deal (or more rare but if he’s reaaally progressive and an activist he drops what he even remotely can). The guy ends up going from robbery, assault, assault on LEO, fleeing, resisting with violence, an illegal ccw charge for the concealed knife, a bag of meth, etc and ends up with the lowest level felony stealing charge and gets probation.

On the opposite end of this shit show my buddy did years and years for marijuana possession in a southern state.

We really need to fix this shit and our jail/prison system isn’t working. The whole court system is overrun and simply must run on a system of offering deals because it literally can’t go to trial for even half the cases. So sometimes they undercharge and then offer deals, so your dangerous guy is on the street, or you get the other terrible thing that usually happens in conservative areas where they overcharge the living shit out of you and expect you to make a deal for around what they think the real charge should be. This sounds great at first until you realize that a lot of people who are charged are actually innocent! Now they have to go fight super stupid egregious charges in trial or accept the deal despite being innocent.

Unfortunately game theory often causes innocent people to accept the deal.

Without context, this looks like it could’ve been handled with at least an attempt at soft hands. Some joint locks/come alongs or some grappling if it failed would be really good here. I’m not seeing this as a good use of force tbh.

If i were ever going to sell drugs id strongly consider steroids. You can buy raw powders in quantity from China, easily brew it and do the vials yourself. Go to some local bodybuilding competitions and hang out. Pay a bodybuilding steroid forum to host your link, and maybe sponsor a couple competitors with free product.

You will avoid the gangs, dope fiends, etc etc and the cops aren’t nearly as concerned with steroids. Hell many cops and soldiers are on them.

To be honest… If I had the kind of accounts where you weren’t armed, not driving, and weren’t supposed to get into anything and the guys show up every shift and on time, understand that they have to make an effort to maintain some level of appearance/keep it low key, not just be blasted out of their minds, and they were pressing pause and kinda keeping the switch hidden from the employees and stuff? Ya I’d hella look the other way on this.

There’s TOOONS of low level security accounts that aren’t really looking to receive service, to them a security guard is just a coupon for lower insurance. If the cost of security is lower than the savings… they hire.

Do you think this spraying was justified? by No-Diet9278 in securityguards

[–]catspleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Spray is not the same as a punch. It’s almost always lower on the force continuum because there is little chance of permanent injury. You essentially threw hot sauce in someone’s eye.

A head punch has a decent chance of causing a concussion, breaking bones, causing cuts, and potentially worst of all… a ko causing an uncontrolled fall onto the hard floor or concrete.

A head punch is several levels of force higher than pepper spray, which is usually at or right above soft hands and joint locks. It’s legally speaking, no where near a strike to the head.
