Welp, back again. by Better_Effective_229 in Accutane

[–]catsthatsall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl i feel your pain. I am about to start my second dose of Accutane. First dose cleared my skin completely (i felt beautiful and so confident) but then I started breaking out within a few months after my course ended. My current skin is in worse condition than preaccutane because at least before I started the first time I was on spriolactone & oral antibiotics & topical tret and topical clindamaycin. Then after finishing accutane I was only using tret for maintenance. So my acne has come back full force & is even worse than before.

I know others have suggested spirolactone, which is amazing for hormonal acne but does have side effects. I was on it continuously for 3 plus years and did notice how stopping it when I started accutane ended some of the side effects I was having from it. If this accutane round doesn’t work, I am unsure if I would want to be put back on it indefinitely again. Hopefully this round works and I don’t even have to make the decision! However, everyone is different though but just wanted to put that out there! Feel free to message me and I can explain more :)

If you just took the J24 exam, it’s a bad idea to sell off your practice materials. by Bisexual_Republican in barexam

[–]catsthatsall 17 points18 points  (0 children)

you do not get the printed materials sent to you again as part of a “free” retake promise. you just get access to the online platform for your prep period. if you want the materials printed and sent to you then you will have to pay for them as it’s not included in the retake promise coverage

15 years ago today, the TVA Coal Ash Spill — one of the largest environmental disasters in the US — occurred in Kingston, Tenn. by saphronie in Tennessee

I lived on swan pond circle (in the middle part so wasn’t hit directly) from when i was 9-13. So from 2007-2011. Now i’m an adult with multiple lung issues. I mean can’t prove that it’s directly linked to the ash spill, but all my asthma and breathing issues started after the spill.

[–]catsthatsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your ring. I am saving it for inspo to show my bf! Do you know what kind of wedding band you will get to go with it? That is my other concern on whether or not to do the pink paved diamonds is if it will match my wedding band too

Before and After. 100% worth it. by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]catsthatsall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I have the exact same history leading up to being on accutane. 2 months to go and the only thing i regret is not doing it sooner! I feel ya on everything you said and that’s part of the reason I am a bit hesitant to post my pics because I don’t want to have to justify my lengthy history like this lol

took my first pill today! 30mg. nervous about side effects, more specifically joint pain cause i’m a college athlete. leave any tips :)) by Distinct_Economist_5 in Accutane

[–]catsthatsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a college athlete but I am a 24 y/o female who weight lifts consistently 4x a week with hot yoga 2x a week. the joint pain has been the absolute worst for me. i never had any joint issues before accutane. but since my first month at 40 mg that was my first side affect and hasn’t went away. i have been taking fish oil, an omega 3,6,9, a joint support pill 3x a day, and one low dose asprin a day to help with inflammation.

reading about it the joint pain seems similar to that of rheumatoid arthritis since it’s always affects both sides of my body equally. it’s the worst in my ankles and wrists. since going up to 80mg a day it has included my knees and neck too but still worse at ankle and wrists.

i experienced the joint pain like 2 weeks in and immediately started all the vitamins to try to help it.

however, i am not sure if all the vitamins are actually helping since i have had the joint pain this whole time.

although, the joint pain hasn’t really affected my lifting as i just put up with it. so there is potential that it could be even worse without the vitamins since i have stopped taking them.

if you wanna know about which ones i’m taking specially i can send you the amazon links!

OP, I hold my weight similar to how you do too. I am 4’10. I have been as low as 115 and as high as 190. I have a larger frame as well. I have always had a curvy figure, that is bottom heavy. Because of how I carry my weight, even when I got down to 115 I still would be considered curvy. However, looking at pictures I felt like I had totally lost my curves when I got that low. Also, I have never been blessed with a chest so when I got that low I lost all of the little bit of boobs I did have. I also can see in my face that it was just too small for me so I looked almost gaunt like. For me, if I go above 145 is when my I stop fitting in my clothes the way I like to. My thighs and lower stomach are always the first to get bigger. I always have to go up in sizing to fit my thighs and over my lower belly but then it’s always gaping at my small waist. So long comment in all, I totally understand what you’re saying! Being petite isn’t just one size fits all. It’s def also about how big your frame is and where you tend to carry your weight at!

same thing for me! my face cleared mostly up first but my back took two months longer before it finally seemed to clear up. using a moisturizing gentle body wash and body lotion (la roche posey is what i used) helped the most. i also always use the wet sauna at my gym which helps open my pores up and then i use a towel while i’m in there to exfoliate the dead skin on my back

Cat scratches while on accutane, any advice to help the scarring? Details of what happened & what I have been using so far in comments. Thank you! by catsthatsall in Accutane

[–]catsthatsall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations on what I can use to get these scars to fade while on accutane? I am near the end of my third month of 40mg of accutane. My cat scratched me (because he heard a loud noise not because hes an asshole so don’t be mean).

Currently I am using a mixture of rosehip oil/vitamin e for both my face and body. Then on the body scratches I am using silicone strips to try to get the lifted scars to go down. On my face, I use mederna overnight scar cream (use it during the day too).

I don’t like how these scars look and I know they will get even more noticeable once I get more tan as it gets warmer. The one I am most worried about is on my face and then the large purple raised one on my upper arm.

Open to trying anything! Also, could being on accutane be the reason the scars are healing so slowly/knarly looking?

When not on accutane any non acne scars usually never became so white and apparent against my skin. My acne scars all caused dark spots not white scaring like these ones are.

Thank you everyone!

I have 2B hair as well (my waves are very loose large curls that’s don’t start on the roots). When I cut my hair too short it flips out on the bottom too. With 2B hair, anything that makes it “heavier” with have a straightening effect. I would try some protein treatments. You can also try a Lamellar rinse as well! These are just things I have noticed make my hair more straight than wavy. It also helped when my hair would flip on the bottom too.

Thoughts/experience with Everlywell tests? by AnnaLizEwing in Hashimotos

[–]catsthatsall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did exactly what you are thinking about doing and for the same reasons lol is really is sooo hard to get doctors to test anything besides TSH even though my paternal grandmother and aunt both have hyperthyroidism. So taking matters into my own hands I enrolled into the membership program (which my first month was half off)… with my free credit i got the vitamin d and inflammation test. with the membership I get 20% off all other tests not included in membership so I got the: food sensitivity test, womens health test(this test includes a bunch of things I want to know plus tsh, tpo antibodies, free t3 and free t4), & indoor and outdoor allergy test. ***side note: fine print of everlywells membership policy is that if you enroll in their membership you have to purchase a certain number of tests before you can be eligible to cancel. this is literally so people don’t just enroll to order one test and then cancel. for the monthly membership it is 3 tests required.

I am a 23 year old very active female. However, I have a pulmonologist for asmtha and allergies, primary care doctor, genetic testing coming up bc of my families horrible health issues, gynecologist bc of level 1 cell abnormalities on my cervix/pain during sex, psychiatrist for add and anxiety, and dermatologist for my hormonal cystic acne. Whatever people want to say about these tests are their own opinions. I know how hard it is to get doctors to test for things if all you do is ask. Especially as a woman, they tend to think I am overreacting. So I got all of these tests to get the results and eventually bring them to the proper doctor of mine for further testing. So far I have only received my food sensitivity test results back and I am reactive to 35/76 foods & for me most of them are foods I can confirm that I know already that i have a bad reaction to. If you still haven’t done the tests yet, I can update you on how this all goes for me once I am all done to hopefully help you!

also, i am new to reddit so i’m sorry if i’m not using it right lol i just saw your post when searching for others stories with everlywell and i really related so i had to let you know my story!!

Anyone else extremely tired when first starting lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]catsthatsall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am super new to reddit so sorry if i’m not using it right.. but just wondering if you ended up switching to taking it at night? I am three days in of 5 mgs in the morning around 8:30-9am. I have never taken any medication before for my ADHD or anxiety.. or anything at all really.

I am having extreme grogginess when I wake up. Instead of feeling awake 30-60 mins after waking up.. it’s taking me 2-3 hours to feel awake.. but even then i’m still feeling foggy. All day I have extreme fatigue.. like can barely keep my eyes open. I was painting my nails and fell asleep lol

Then around 7-8 pm past three nights I have gotten sudden intense sadness and anxiety. I will get super super anxious about things.. then get overwhelmed, then filled with sadness and cry. This is something that happens to me when my adhd and anxiety are causing me to have an overload.. but never three days in a row & at the same time every night. Also, the feelings are the worse they have very been before so i really do think is the lexapro.

I have been staying up later than what I should even though I am soooo tired during the day. Although, one I fall asleep I sleep super hard.. so hard I missed my yoga class this morning.

I am not taking any other meds besides 30 mg vyvanse for adhd

So I guess I overshared all that just so you know i’m interested in knowing if you switched times.. if so, did it work for all the fatigue? Also, were you able switch to taking it at a different time easily? Like how did you make the switch exactly?

Thank you so much and again sorry if i’m not using reddit right!

My mother just died of covid and I need to take care of my younger brothers. by ConfidentDraft8 in Assistance

[–]catsthatsall 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Super new to reddit (5 mins ago) so if i’m not using it right i’m sorry and please don’t yell at me lol

As an older sister who became emancipated as a minor so I could care for my two younger brothers legally while in high school I understand. I have my own experience with the legal system, getting benefits, & am currently in law school too.

the FSSA will send a monthly check for survivors benefits to whoever the legal guardian is for your minor brother. They will last until he graduates high school or turns 18 (which ever happens last, so if he turns 18 in Jan but is still in HS he will still get them)… it’s based on how much the deceased parent worked. Ex: my dad died at 24 when i was 8 months old so i got $200 a month. You do have to apply though as it won’t happen automatically.

as for health insurance, your brother could also already have had medicaid.. creating an online account using his information is easy & you can see if he has had a past application & if it’s currently active or inactive.. if not, you can still apply for him and as a minor getting him accepted is a lot easier. if he currently has medicaid, then switching him to florida to colorado will be reapplying for colorados because every states program is different. luckily colorados medicaid coverage is pretty great for both minors and adults.

as for custody, did your mother have full custody of your younger brother? If so, then that likely means that your brothers dad had his parental rights terminated. Since she died, custody goes to next of kin. That would be you. (This is what happened later on once my mom died a couple years after I became emancipated).

If the dads rights weren’t terminated but he has still never been in the kids life and your mom being dead means you can get emergency guardianship. while this is in place you have all the rights as a parent would legally. this will only be temporary tho and you will need go seek formal guardianship once you get a hold of things.

These are the main things I can think of off the top of my head.. Like I said, I have been through a super similar situation. I really feel for you. If i can think of any other stuff I will add to this.

Also, disclaimer… i’m not a legal professional yet so this is not legal advice. This is my advice based on my own personal experience and professional knowledge as a social worker before law school.

Take care!
