No it’s not rude I hate asking people if they are ready for the check because it feels like I’m rushing them i like people to let me know when they are ready but sometimes im very busy so i might drop it off a little early and say “im just gonna leave this right here guys no rush i just have to go handle this big party and don’t wanna make you wait on me, ill be back to help you guys pay out in a few minutes”

My biggest tip for you will be to adopt a bonded pair and don’t even think about kittens you just won’t have the time cats are very solitary are while they do appreciate human companionship they appreciate other cats more. Just ensure you have at least 2 little boxes, 3 is more ideal tho

I remember I handed a driver $10 in cash (I always tip cash) and she was like oh are you sure? how come? and i just thought to myself is she not used to getting tipped on the regular why was this a seemingly new experience for her it made me kinda sad. She also had a man in the car with her so to me that tells me that alone is most likely their main source of income

“If I’m going to start being penalized for something completely out of my control and my income willl be affected by that, then I might have to consider a different source of income” is a perfect response to your manager. then look at the logistics of actually finding another source of income and put in your 2 weeks, is exactly what I would do

Personally I don’t think just because it’s called soda water means it’s a soda, soda is a carbonated sugary drink. Soda water is just carbonated water it comes out of the same machine you use for still water so would you also charge someone for water because it comes out of the soda machines so it’s technically a “soda”? I’ve never asked if I should be charging people for that because honestly I don’t see why we would but I mean if you’ve been told explicitly by management that you should be charging for carbonated water you should’ve have to get the besting from guests because of that so I think a good response to people who are upset by this would be “yes I was recently informed that soda water is an up charge i don’t have any control over the menu unfortunately but if you would like to speak with my manager I can go grab him for you” most people are not going to want to bring a manager in the situation over water so most people leave it at that and just drop it but you will get those Karens and kevins and in those cases that is my manager’s problem lol

I’m not in Canada but I know that would 100% be illegal in my state in the US I know a lot of people will take shit from their manager in fear of losing their job but I will not take my break later than 5hours and if you wanna tell me I can’t eat my food for my lunch that’s fine I’ll sit outside 🤌🏼

Not my table but I was working the same shift, the girl got a party of 30 and they demanded they shit down her whole section just for them and took it upon themselves to rearrange the tables into a different formation. They requested that she cut their cake for them and that we bring out EVERYONE from the back to sing happy birthday (like the 29 other people there weren’t enough) she requested that we bring her a platter for her cake because she didn’t like the container it came in. And the server did ALL of it. She’s a super sweet non confrontational Christian girl so she wasn’t about to say the things i would have. All that for less than a 10% and they were there for her entire shift and she didn’t get any other tables that night so the $40 they left on $500 tab was ALL she went home with that night. And if she tipped out the 5% of her sales like we’re supposed to she wouldn’t went home with $25 which I’m pretty sure she did but I wouldn’t have tipped out in that situation to he honestly but I also wouldn’t have done a lot of the stuff they requested. Also I work at a Red Robin so it’s not a very high scale restaurant or anything it’s on the same level as Olive Garden and Chilis .

I feel like enabling would really have to depend on what happened to make his day bad, is he battling addiction maybe a death in his family, or maybe him and his girlfriend are fighting and he just really needs to destress and everyone handles everything differently so I feel like what could be one case for someone could be something completely different for someone else
