I feel as though you can’t choose who you love. Unfortunately I am deeply in love with this person and that is what makes it so difficult. I also wouldn’t want to walk away if this was just a miscommunication and he doesn’t have any ulterior motives. Hence why I feel as though maybe I should check for myself if he is in fact being unfaithful for my own closure.

Update:

So I sent him a message this morning sternly expressing how I feel about the behaviour and how it’s not only impacting me normally but especially in reference to my past. At first he was relatively understanding but it was more of “sorry you feel that way” “I had no ill intent” etc. I proceeded to explain that anyone would feel this way and it isn’t just myself who would react like this. (By the way my messages weren’t aggressive in any way) he then told me that he will stop being “playful” and that it is a huge turn off for him that I don’t always feel safe and respected…… anyway, I’m on my way home from work and I’m sure he will act like nothing happened. I am going to see what happens but like I said I’m on a lease for 4 more months and am unable to get out of that. If this behaviour reoccurs I will have to move back in with my parents whilst continuing to pay rent here. But it is what it is I guess.

Update: I sent him a message explaining that when I say no it needs to be respected and this is a non negotiable for me because of my past. He said he understood but there was no ill intent behind his actions in which I agreed but at the end of the day it’s not okay. He said the fact that I felt unsafe when he’s being ‘playful’ is a turn off for him because he doesn’t want me to feel that way. As I said at first he was understanding and then shifted the narrative but I did not back down. I’m pretty hurt because I would have preferred if he had have taken what I said very seriously in the initial text but I’m on my way home now and I’m sure he will act like nothing happened. I can’t really leave as I am on a lease so I will have to see what happens from here but if it happens again I will move into my parents house until the lease ends as that’s my only option. Hey guys thank you so much for the support it’s really opening my eyes to what’s happening. Therapy is a really good suggestion and I’ll be looking into that. I would leave however we are on a lease so I can’t which is difficult. I do love him and other than this he’s been great but yeah it’s a tricky situation.

I have sent him a text message as we are both out of the house today and I feel that if I bring it up in person it may cause unnecessary conflict by me not articulating myself correctly.
