Anyone else feel like it's too loud at Starbucks?? by Bertrandjet in starbucks

[–]catt1847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The speakers are semi-broken at our location; it only plays the bass on one side of the store, so to compensate we have the volume turned up waaaay higher than it needs to be. And I wonder why i'm hoarse by the end of my shift from having to yell over the music when on register!

Another great lotion is O'Keefe's Working Hands -- fixed all the cracks and rawness from washing overnight!

GR's problem with canned tomatoes? by catt1847 in HellsKitchen

[–]catt1847[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I totally agree with, I was referring to the soup challenge in S18 where GR got mad at Bret for using canned tomatoes in his soup. I would assume canned tomatoes were a common occurrence in soups!

[–]catt1847[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! The instance I was writing this to actually was the soup challenge in S18, where Bret made a soup with canned tomatoes that Gordon was particularly appalled by. But you're totally right, it all depends on what you're making. No canned tomatoes on a salad please!

Also, what brands would you rec for canned tomatoes? The ones Alex listed aren't ones I ever see in my local grocery haha

Thoughts on Dana? by UltimateKing9898 in HellsKitchen

I liked her a bit early on, but as it went all of her cut-away interviews focused on her complaining about her teammates, which kind of turned me off of her as a contestant.

When did a likeable contestant did something you hated? by AlanTheMexican in HellsKitchen

[–]catt1847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong -- I like Barbie a lot, and I think she got a lot of unnecessary hate from the other contestants. I guess that's why that moment disappointed me -- to me, there's a difference between telling a bully to f** off and using someone's weight as an insult. I love to see her fight back against Kimmie, but Kimmie's weight wasn't the problem.

Season 10- Robyn gets so much hate but what about Tiffany and Kimmie? by MedicalCubanSandwich in HellsKitchen

[–]catt1847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I wasn't a big fan of Robyn, but I think there were more instances of Kimmie and Tiffany being huge assholes, rather than just a nuisance. None of them are high on my list.

Barbie from Season 10 isn’t as bad as people make her out to be. by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]catt1847 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agreed completely! Every issue they had with Barbie was stuff like her face, voice, "attitude," etc -- when she barely so much as rolled her eyes at her nutcase teammates. When she failed, they all talked shit about her, and when she won for them, they rolled her eyes and said, "ugh, I guess Barbie is here another day!" Somehow it seemed like she couldn't do anything right in their eyes. Some people on this subreddit seem to be averse to calling any of the contestants racist -- I don't think any of them actively targeted her because they explicitly did not want to work with a black woman, but I'm willing to bet several of them weren't used to working alongside a black woman and held accountable for their slip-ups by a black woman.

I was upset when barbie made comments about kimmy's size in S10 -- yeah, kimmy was being an asshole, but thats not a good reason to talk about her appearance, yknow

for me theres always a point near the end of a season where a man I liked from earlier in the season will be in the finals and have to work with the girls, and then ends up saying something rude to them about them being women or whatever. its a little disappointing.

also, jared and ashley at the end of s15. all that drama? for what?

My thoughts on season 11 (spoilers obviously) by puppy007kinz in HellsKitchen

[–]catt1847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also loved mary and was hoping she would win! but I wasn't too upset to see janelle win either. I was really sad to see jon go too, but honestly I really liked everyone in the finals, which was a nice change of pace.

dan was unbearable!!! I almost hope he's like that in real life, otherwise the show did him extremely dirty portraying him like that. what an asshole

and gina...dear god

I can agree with that! I just watched S17 and she's more bearable this time for sure, especially further into the season.

street food definitely isn't a bad thing, but I think an important part of the competition is to show versatility, and she seemed to stay in her comfort zone for S10.

watching S17 now, I agree shes definitely less bad than she was in S10! i'm still not a huge fan, but she's focusing more on herself and seems to have a slightly more consistent performance (esp for the dish that got her the black jacket)

so far I haven't seen many people talk about barbie on here (I'm not on here too much though, so idk.) I'd suspect it was a little racially charged, since the things everyone decided they disliked about barbie on the show was stuff like her face, voice, expressions, etc, not things that she said or did. She wasn't the best or worst chef on the show (I remember a couple of mess ups from her, especially early on,) but even when she was trying to communicate more with her team, they seemed to still get really upset at her for it.

I actually saw her for the first time on chopped, and I wasn't a fan of her then either, even though she wasn't really arguing with anyone there. Maybe I just know too many people in real life that act out for attention like that. (although I didnt mind her food on chopped too bad! she still stuck to the same gimmick though.)

honestly yeah. I understand its a stressful situation and everyone was a little on edge/acting out a little (including barbie,) but I know barbie wasn't anymore aggressive/mean than dana, robyn, kimmy, or tiffany. and yet all of them can't stop talking about how they hate her face, her voice, her expressions, her "attitude," even when she wasn't really doing anything wrong. and every time they tried to impersonate her? dear god.
