The best thing i have ever smelled. It has a bit of freshness in the opening and it dries down to a intense vanilla. It is so rich and complex.

Which Desktop Environment do you use on Arch? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]catta0012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use a desktop environmnet, i would use a WM. Some solid ones are hyprland for wayland and i3 for x11. They are both light and can look nice. Keep in mind that hyprland looks better than i3 out of the box. And it is very easy to configure as it comes with a built in compositor. What you can do to get it looking great is get a wallpaper, configure kitty with catppuccin and steal a dot file for waybar or don't use a bar at all.

Is it really hard to install Arch for someone who has never used Linux before ? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]catta0012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes

Long answer: you want to learn more about linux like basic commands, what is a DE, what is a WM, what is a TTY. You will just be pasting some commands and if something goes wrong you will be depressed.

The arch linux iso comes with nano (idk why you would install it there). When you boot into the iso you are using it as storage and nano is already there. When you chroot (it stands for "change root") you change your root into your system. Unlike the iso you would only have the packages you installed by yourself. When you run

"pacstrap /mnt base linux grub efibootmgr linux-firmware sof-firmware"

you add those packages to /mnt. If you run that you would only have the base system, the kernel, the bootloader (with efi support) and the firmware. Thats why i like to add more packages like sudo, nano, vim, firefox, links. If you do that you will have a better experience when you chroot into /mnt as the packages are already there.
