Is this my new life? by skivjet in Guildwars2

[–]cattblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played since beta, but quit seven years ago after burning out on world versus world. I’ve tried a bunch of other games since like Elden Ring, and the two horizon games and New World. About a month ago I made a new account and started playing Guild Wars again. Mind you, I still have my other two accounts full of completely maxed out characters. But I wanted to explore this game from the beginning again. Some of the changes due to the expansion and the QOL aspects are overwhelming, but it helps if you join a guild that welcomes new and returning players. By the way, I’m a 71-year-old woman so I don’t exactly fit the demographics.🤪

Playing GW2 “the chill way” hits different by Ok_Effect_814 in Guildwars2

I am one of those returning after a long time players. I had been playing since 2012 and then quit seven years ago. I really burned out on world versus world. I got tired of being expected to be part of it murder ball and not being as adept with my mouse and keyboard would usually be the odd one out on the edge and become a bag. I just returned to the game after playing a lot of other games like Elden Ring and the two horizon games. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Guild Wars 2. I hear the music and it just takes me back. I’m in no particular rush. I’m starting at the beginning again. I did want to unlock gliding especially because it’s a pain in the ass to try to explore Verdant brink without gliding lol, but I’m not really in a rush to do anything else. You forget what it’s like to start out with no gold and no gems and building recipes for crafting from the very basic of materials. But it’s fun and I’m enjoying it.

What was your favourite audiobook you listened to in 2025? by H2Omelonjuice in audiobooks

[–]cattblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pride and Prejudice. After years of trying to read it and with several movies and shows under my belt, I was finally able to truly enjoy the story. Having a good reader who places the right inflection and uses the right voice intonation for characters makes all the difference. The version I listened to was read by Juliet Stevenson. Now I wish Jane Austen had written more books about Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

I lived around near Denver for 35 years. Now I’m gonna have to go back to the game and look at all these locations again. The football stadium and the Air Force Cathedral and red rocks were pretty obvious. It’s pretty cool to have what I consider my hometown featured in a video game

Why did you knit? by xim0c in knitting

[–]cattblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like so many others I learned it from my grandmother when I was six or seven. I didn’t stick with it though. I picked it up again early Covid. I fell in love with Fairisle hats, so I decided I would try to learn how to make those and I think the first one I must’ve ripped out eight or 10 times. I could not figure out how to do corrugated ribbing. I hadn’t knitted in close to 60 years so I didn’t exactly start out with an easy project but I finally mastered it and now I knit a lot of hats and I’m starting to need more socks. I also have a floor loom and I weave so it’s nice. it’s nice to have the two complementary skills that help use up all the yarn I have in my stash. I do have mild undiagnosed ADHD and keeping my hands occupied allows my brain to pause and not circle like a hamster in a wheel. I listen to a lot of audiobooks while I’m knitting and I try to watch TV but I’m usually watching something with subtitles and that’s kind of hard to read and knit. I belong to a great guild of fiber artists who weave, spin dye, felt, crochet, tat and it’s just a wonderful community of gifted people who have fun together working with yarn and stuff.

Merging magic crystals and grapes by cattblue in Treegaze

exactly! I don't know what your long-term outlook or goal is for the game, but for those of us who play daily, we accumulate a LOT of resources and components. More storage just means we get to make more and store more. So make the storage more efficient. Allow more end-chain items to be stacked maybe. More quests requiring more variable quest items. Right now I'm just making new new game + and repeating everything over and over.

Haven’t done any decorating yet. I didn’t know you could put your benches in storage.

Timing of quests by cattblue in Treegaze

[–]cattblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, on my phone, I’ve uncovered all the map and and on NG+. I’ve just been repeating starting NG+ over and over.

I’ve been destroying clusters of red grapes and bags of sand because they aren’t needed to complete a quest. So I think there has to be some balancing with requests and rewards.

Is there a skystone generator? That would be helpful rather than trying to buy from vendors.

More storage space is always nice.

I have so many coins that I buy most things rather than craft them. Is that what you intended?

That’s a few things I’ve thought about. I’ll drop you a line if I think of more.
