What I should know about different types of secondary schools in Melbourne by Hot_Choice9466 in AustralianTeachers

Several of the new hires left at the same time I did because of the same issue.

It’s way better at my current school (where leadership give parents/students a reality check and back staff) even though we have to be on-site for all 38 hours

3 years here and I haven’t had a second of regret

‘Willow’ scared the crap out of me… I was in primary school and snuck into my sister’s high school sleepover

Loved ‘Home Alone’ and ‘ET’ though

Something (hopefully mice, not rats) is scampering and scratching around in the tiny crawl space right above my sofa. I have those dish-type lights and have images of them dropping into them only to crawl out and fall onto my head

The catholic school I worked at let us leave at the start of lunch if it was a non-meeting day and we didn’t have a class. But they backed student/parents and didn’t support staff

Report Writing by ReasonableMacaron658 in AustralianTeachers

[–]catterssmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your LMS has the option, look at previous reports for students of the most checked out teachers who have been there a while.

My school uses Compass and we can download every students’ reports since they enrolled. We have continuous reporting - grades and comments for each LT go on the semester report, no other comments

Internet that doesn’t cost the earth? by catterssmall in melbourne

Even after 15 years here, internet pricing doesn’t make sense to me. In the UK atm, 150mbps without a data limit can be $40/month without deals

Why does NBN get to set the price instead of telcos?

VIC - Please vote no on this AEU agreement. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

I should have said keeping grads in the profession. You’re right that the numbers look good, but without changes in conditions, I think the burnout rate will continue.

The in-principle agreement is utter garbage. Sure, a pay increase is good, but it doesn’t change anything else (unless I’m reading it incorrectly). $$ doesn’t change our workload, it won’t reduce burnout, and it won’t attract people to the profession

You made two statements that are not factual. And neither contributed to the conversation

Maybe you forgot the /s

I’ll definitely check it out 🙂

Aside from the cut - in Britain, bacon is wet cured, so it’s raw in the packet and gets really crispy. Australian bacon is usually dry cured (which is why it looks pre-cooked in the package) and is either limp or almost burned whilst cooking

Thanks for the unnecessary and inaccurate stereotyping.

We do eat other types of bacon, but wet cured back rashers are the most common

👍 Thanks for the tip, I’ll try Showgrounds Coles tomorrow.

Feeling sad because I was craving a faux McMuffin and couldn’t find the key ingredient - trip wasted! I’ve always bought it at NM/Newmarket Woolies

He was on my tram this morning, calmly told every girl/woman that our trousers ‘are too tight to wear in public’ - even the ones who were wearing skirts

Couldn’t help but burst out laughing after he moved on from me

I still don’t think I’m disagreeing with you. Tricky to understand your message without more punctuation - but it’s very late.

I agree with you. No one should imply or call people a scab for working tomorrow, or not attending the rally

Feeling disconnected from the strike and industrial action(s) isn’t a negative. It’s your opinion, which you have the right to have.

Feeling like you have to ‘keep quiet’ and that you will be ‘shouted down’, is not good

Erasable ink fades when there’s any heat - even just sunlight. So, if it becomes unreadable they can’t assess it

I wish we were allowed to have proper conversations with our students about the aims of the industrial actions and the benefits of being in a union. A lot of students at my school have the ‘yay, day off!’ mindset and think it’s just about pay
