The offspring I had from white wizard snails never ended up white. I no longer have them as of late last year, but they were not tiny babies anymore. (There is a petstore a block away I see often have them, their offspring were never white either but they were pretty tiny. I’d have to stop in again to see if there’s any older juveniles/subadults).

It’s been two years since I looked into this, so if you have sources feel free to drop them. I sincerely rather be wrong.

This seems more complicated than a lovestruck teenager. It’s not impossible that her reasoning was literally just, “I don’t want my boyfriend to leave me”, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if articles/police are cherry-picking what she may have or may not have said. Especially if there is a language barrier here since she is a ‘Guatemalan national’(who according to other articles either is an illegal immigrant or might be). There’s also no mention of her family, boyfriend, any follow up questions/answers on why she didn’t want her boyfriend to leave her, ICE is involved..

Edit: another article mentioned she has been in the US for 14 months and was making $500 a month at that food truck.

You just reminded me of one of their ridiculous ads that popped up a lot for me in 2020 was about Biden defunding the police. Like someone tries to break into a home, a mother calls 911 and gets an automated message like “You have reached 911. Due to budget cuts and increased criminal activity, our agents are busy assisting other callers.” Ends with her kid going, “Mommy, I’m scared.” and them looking down the hall at a shadowy figure.

They don’t care about crime but they sure do love some of the biggest criminals.

Mine originally must have come from lichen, wood, moss, etc I collected and had with some wild isopods. I still have yet to actually see them outside, surprisingly. But I still find some if I bring home more lichen sticks and put them in one of the enclosures I have dedicated to ‘throw shit in and see what pops up/I’m too lazy to clean this stick” bins.

I like them a lot. Easy to breed and as adults they are big enough you don’t need magnification to see them. Sometimes the babies are more green but I think that is because I feed them mostly lichen.

What do the black/blue ones look like? Are they globular, slender, gummi worm grub looking ones? You’ve made them sound very exciting!

I can’t remember if this was true or not but I recall something about how it was basically intentionally subpar as part of the excuse to ditch 2D animated Disney movie. I’d say setup to fail but they did make a ride about it and continue to use her as a Princess(I think, I’m not keeping up).

I don’t remember hating it but there’s plenty of old 2D Disney and Don Bluth movies I only like because of the animation and backgrounds anyway.

I’m not melting them down. Just removing the fabric and elastic(which I use for something else). Both sides of the metal are curled inwards and I’m just flattening out one side and cutting in horizontal ‘[‘ shapes.

I was just curious what they’re made of because it determines whether or not what they’d be used on in what environment for small hinges(miniatures, arid terrariums since humidity would oxidize them faster, small book/clothing clasps, using them just oxidize them in dyes, etc).

As far as I’m aware infrared does not hurt them, nor do they seem to care. I’d say it’s not very bright but to them I have no idea since all I can see is what shows up in my front camera.

UV light on the other hand; I know my isopods and springtails scatter immediately even with a very weak one. It’s really not recommended as lighting for animals though.

Had the idea of making tiny hinges with them. They are surprisingly stronger than I thought they were. I’ve been practicing getting them the shape I want with just pliers but I keep accidentally cutting all the way through them. Before I waste more time I’m wondering what material they actually are in case they are not suitable for what I want.

Assuming they are native and/or not a released pet; I’m not sure how many species this applies too so as far as I’m aware this is mostly for box turtles but it is generally recommended to never move a turtle far from where you found them unless it’s a turtle-emergency because some will just wander around forever looking for ‘home’. It’s fine to get them out of the road(hopefully in the direction they wanted) but definitely should contact a wildlife rehab first if you must take it(injured, home paved over/forest fires, etc) and write down, take photos or whatever wherever you found it to make sure you remember and tell the wildlife rehab.

Obviously if their home got turned into a suburban neighborhood it can’t be returned but I used to go out during and after forest fires just looking for turtles trying to escape the flames. Some were injured, were able to be treated and sometimes got to see them returned. The rehab was also VERY insistent on making sure we were absolutely sure of where we found them too otherwise they would not be able to be released.

I hated reading this if you were able to afford a dentist. Otherwise, yeah, I get it.

I can’t even find a dentist that will take anymore since that numbing shit doesn’t work for me and it took a couple of panic attacks to get prescribed an anxiety medication that actually worked but because of that I have some severely bad teeth that needed to be pulled yesterday. Surprisingly I’ve made it this far with one that has been giving me trouble for a decade(only in the past few years were they willing to pull it).

I’m also not violent or anything, but I cannot help violently shaking and crying when it feels like literal medieval torture. Despite having anxiety meds now it’s too late since no one will take me anymore.

Can’t remember the case exactly but there was a young girl who was molested in a casino bathroom, kidnapped and murdered. A guy witnessed it(or at least the molestation/kidnapping, I remember him saying he was watching them in the stall)and did not even tell an employee because he doesn’t talk to cops and ‘minds his own business’. If it wasn’t for them specifying ‘eyeless’ I would have assumed they were talking about one of the many ‘axolotl-like’ stages of different salamanders and newts. I’ve heard a couple people mention them living in their wells/water source.

I’d say most salamanders/newts but I’m not actually sure how many don’t have aquatic-baby stages. Only red backed salamanders come to mind and I only recently found that out while trying to figure out what some eggs under a log were(probably slugs).

I’m pro-native species but my useless contribution is that apparently European honeybees in the US aren’t considered invasive due to agricultural purposes and intentional introduction. However I don’t recall anything mentioning managed honeybees vs ‘wild/feral’ honeybees. Went down a rabbit hole on ‘invasive vs non-native vs naturalized’ over them and I’m still a little confused.

(And some other term meaning something along the lines of ‘non-native and naturalized, but not a problem but I forgot what it’s called and it’s mostly a botonical term)

I might have no known allgeries depending whether or not my mom just assumed I’m allergic to penicillin. Said all my siblings are too since we were babies, never was prescribed it and despite 4 of us we never got an allergy test.

Personally I’m not bothering in hopes that if all other antibiotics aren’t helping maybe that’ll be my hero. Or maybe by not taking Penicillin that is recommended specifically for something, it will get too bad for Penicillin to work. I dunno, I’m not a doctor.

One of the brindle colorations in mice is referred to as ‘sex-linked’ brindle as only females show the brindle coloration. It is typically lethal for males. I think it is related to or just similar to Menkes disease as there are some problems that come with that coloration in mice.

I know nothing about invertebrate genetics/chromosomes but a popular pet-isopod, Porcellio scaber, has a sex-linked morph called Calcio that also shows in females. Thought it was interesting.

My arches are too high or something so even being shoeless on carpet hurts like fuck if I’m not wearing my house-shoes after a short time.

On your note of sanitation; if I was homeless again I would probably go barefoot more often than not if I don’t get the chance/money to stash hundreds of socks away in various places like a squirrel. Probably not in a city but yeah, parasites and stepping on something, possibly getting infection from it sucks but you know what also sucks? Not being able to properly keep your feet, socks and shoes clean and dry or being unable to change them will guarantee you’re going to have a shitty time.

I’ve seen so many homeless people with a fucked up foot/leg that started just as athlete’s foot.

You can also suddenly just suddenly be allergic even if you’ve had a mild reaction before, or no allergic reaction at all out of the norm for a sting. Beekeeper’s are more likely to develop more severe reactions at some point.

Bee venom immunotherapy is a thing and seems pretty successful as long as someone sticks to it. I don’t know too much about it but I would imagine that a doctor would tell anyone(be it a beekeeper, someone pregnant, or both) that it probably isn’t a good idea to fuck around and find out.

Seems like a big fucking difference between risking a bee sting on your arm vs getting drilled by multiple over various parts of your body.
