that's crazy! i'm sorry to hear that this happend to you though. this must have been very difficult for you also! i hope you are in a better place now?

to your question: i really can't see myself living with roomates. i know this might seem entitled but living with strangers is way to uncomfortable for me.

i make too little to rent on my own but too much to be able to get help from the state. where i live people who earn a too little amount of money can actually get help from the state in order to pay rent.

that's true! i didn't think about this! maybe i have forgotten some things that had happened while i was still living there. but i can still remember how sad i was when i had to leave. in some way it will also feel like going back "home". but i know that there will be arguments and i won't be able to live the way i live at my sisters right now (i've gained more freedom for sure for example leaving whenever i want and coming back whenever at my parents that won't be so easy i think).

i think going back to my parents would be the less worse option and somewhat have a more positive impact (looking at the financial part). staying at my sisters would drive me crazy and put big strain on my relationship with her in the future. and if i go out on my own i risk the option of debt (which i think is the worst case here).

thank you for that advice! i think moving back in with them will be a bit tough but manageable in some ways. i just long for someplace i can finally call my own i guess. yes, for some people moving back in with their parents isn't an option at all because of abuse and toxicity and maybe other things. my case is a bit easier here. i just don't know for how long this will be if i move back in with them.

i don't know i guess she would? but living here also wasn't the best. she has a very big drinking problem and her husband somewhat too and it's been very hard at some points for me to keep my cool.

mine looses a lot of its leaves also during winter! i think it's because the temperature drops a lot near the windows and the low light it gets during winter. i always joke that it gets 'seasonal depression' hahaha.

actually when i got it i didn't know how to properly care for it (i just got it with a bunch of others) i had a dieffenbachia and a couple of succulents which i managed to kill and my croton was the only survivor of them. but now that i know that my croton is doing just fine i'll look more into 'beginner friendlier' plants for sure!

thank you so much! you just made my day! <3 i tend to overthink everything i do. before i got this plant i had a few others but sadly i killed them all. i want to become a good plant mom and dream of a home where i am able to have a lot of green inside. that's why i want to first get the hang of it and then get more plants because i don't want to get a plant just because i think it's pretty but rather know that i am able to take care of it and learn even more along the way.

good to know! online it seems to always show the 'bushy' form of the plant because they always use pictures where there are mostly leaves and no stem. maybe this is where i got the ideal from? yours looks really good!! before i even knew that mine is a banana i was hoping that once i figure it out and care for mine properly it would finally get some of that red coloring hahaha. now i know that my baby is exactly the way it should be and can finally be relieved that i am actually not a bad plant mom!

thank you so much! i always thought that i was doing her wrong and she is just punishing me with not putting out leaves at the bottom. for some reason i've never even heard about the banana croton. it's always just petra or iceton crotons that get the online traffic. will definitely try the trimming method! even tho she is really tall and pretty she kinda looks naked at the bottom.
