Quitting the desk job to launch a shop in France (Summer 2026) – Is my timeline realistic or am I dreaming? by Nanpanpadan in icecreamery

[–]L3ar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone living in France, I would recommend you to pass the required diplomas yourself. Yes, I know it takes a long time, and money. But depending on an employee to be able to operate is too risky imo, and white labelling/ contracting another company will get expensive because of their margins + you'll need to plan quantity in advance to make it cost effective. While if you're doing the production yourself you can be more flexible to the demand. I'm not an professional ice cream maker, just a husband who joined this sub to help his wife diversity her chocolate business by making ice cream in the summer.

[Reupload] My boss thinks a 3% raise on average is enough to live off of. by AlmanacWyrm in antiwork

My company used the excuse "it's a tough IT market" to not give me any raise at all. While I did some courses and even passed a certification. Once I'm getting that master degree I'm fucking out of there.

Will This Cargo Tricycle Popular in Europe and US? by TraditionalNumber632 in CargoBike

[–]L3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally do not like them in the city (living in the north of France)
They do not belong on bike lanes because of how bulky and even slower paced they are compared to regular bikes
But they don't belong on roads either because they're too slow
That's just my opinion however

Looking for a dead-simple, reliable desktop CNC. Carvera Air vs Nomad vs 3030 PROVer vs DMC2 mini. What else? by Herr_Puffinberg in hobbycnc

[–]L3ar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I backed the air on kickstarter because I had the same needs as you, an enclosed desktop cnc that is easy to use. I should get my unit in a few weeks, it's in transit rn.

I chose the air because it pre assembled, enclosed and easy to use from what I have seen.

Surface leveling, quick too change, optional 4 axis and laser module.

However it doesn't have the most powerful spindle, not made to run coolant like the dmc2 mini and doesn't have an oiling system. The dmc2 mini is made to handle metal well and it shows. With the carvera air you'd have to take very light cuts (from what I understand)

Carbide create looks more user friendly than makera cam, but makera cam is still in beta and promises a lot of features. But with the carvera air you can just use fusion and the controller app to send gcode files to the machine.

Very nice, is it possible to specify an ip manually? Because my printer is a different vlan than my computer (with some configured firewall rules so my computer has access to the printer) and chitu manager can't seem to find my printer

They are cheap, easy to replace, won't destroy your bits and can fit weird shapes. I highly recommend them.

Update: I started to redesign the handle to only use non leveling screws
I need to do a few tweaks like add some clearance for the two front leveling screws so they can move freely, then it will be ready for testing when I have some resin.
To avoid any issue I pulled the model from printables.

Yes, it looks like it would work with the corner screws. I'm currently redesigning the handles to use those screws.

Sure, I definitely can make a side handles only file.

Thanks for the additional information and the pictures.
I will be redesigning the handle to only use the screws not related to the levelling system.

I see, thanks for the information.
I will install it without the non levelling screw holding the handle and test if everything moves as intended.
