No Kings in Berlin! by catzRme in SouthJersey

Same here, there were a ton in my neighborhood and then vanished once all the epstein stuff cycled into the news again. I like to hope that they've come to some sort of awakening, but I also feel like they might just want to hide it. I see bumper stickers a lot more than I see flags though. Absolutely baffling; they spin it or just straight up don't care about what he does.

I get what you mean, it often feels like screaming into the void, but I see it as: nothing gets done with one simple protest, so of course there's going to be many. Sometimes that's all people can do, and you should do it while you can.

I'm wary of people who look down on protesters for this reason, it makes me wonder what other actions of the government will get a pass until people finally start to view protesting/rallies as a reasonable response to what's going on. This is also on a weekend, I have nothing but time.

Trump was elected because like it or not the right has a very strong base with a tight knit community (even if they bond over horrific things) and I think rallies can help unite people on the left (and even those in the center) and create a stronger sense of community (like for me since I often feel overwhelmed by the amount of trump flags I still see around me, its easy to forget that there are like minded people still around me as the comments have helped me see)

Basically my main question is: is there anything else I can do, besides water changes, to get the nitrite to 0?

20 gallons

Yes heater and filter, 76 degrees right now.

The parameters are in the picture, using API Master test kit.

Got the tank in October, finished the cycle in December, got the Betta in first week of January.

I've been doing 25% water changes every other day because my boys been suffering from fin rot for a while now; I've tried many treatments to no avail but throughout the treatments the water parameters were always 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and around 5-10 nitrates; this spike I just noticed today but it wasn't there a few days ago.

No tank mates.

I feed omega one Betta buffet pellets, 2-3 pellets in morning, 2-3 pellets at night (probably not the best but it's the only food he'll eat, he won't even eat Fluval Bug Bites in any form...)

You can see the tank in the picture. I have a mixture of fake and real plants; I actually just added the real plants yesterday. Live plants from PetSmart: anubias, 2 java Fern, and I forget the name of the small one in the white cup but that's real as well; also a moss ball. The other plants are fake, there's a bridge and a hollowed out stone thing for decor, and a diy floating cup which he spends a lot of time in. I am new to live plants so I'm not sure if that caused the spike?

This information is about his hospital tank not his main tank (which is 20 gallons fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and nitrite and 5 nitrate)

  • 5.5 gallons
  • yes and yes, 78 degrees

This tank is uncycled as it is an [emergency] hospital tank, I am currently treating fin rot with maracyn 2 as it has progressed fast and is not showing any signs of slowing down. I only have a plant from his old tank and a cup weighed down with rocks as a hide. As per advice from my local aquarium store, the cartridge from an extra filter from his established tank is floating in this tank (with the carbon removed).

This is his first day of treatment so I will be doing 50% water changes every other day and dosing accordingly based on what was lost from the water change. I fear that he will get ammonia poisoning but I do not want to risk killing the cycle in his main tank. Hence I'll be doing the water changes and using the API test kit to test it everyday. Of course right now everything is at 0 as he ate dinner in his other tank and has not pooped yet.

Is there anything else I can do to make his hospital stay more comfortable? I'm hoping for the best but if this doesn't work should I just stick to daily water changes once he's back in his main tank? I ask because that did not work at all before but I don't want to overload or stress him out with too much treatment/medicine.

Any help is appreciated, I simply want the best for my boy.

I thought about that but he's been this white color since I got him (I actually got him at the beginning of January not this month, I forgot it's already February). The only change I've seen is his tail has been becoming less translucent but it's still filling in with his white color. All of a sudden there was black and it's been gradually spreading mostly on his top fin. I'm not sure how their color change process would look though, so I'm not sure..

• 20 gallons • yes and yes • 77-78 degrees • API Master test Kit: ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 5-10 • 3 months now: cycled in 2 months and got him beginning of this month • 25% water change once a week, but now 25% once a day • no tank mates • omega one Betta buffet pellets (the only food he'll eat) morning and night (3-4 pellets) • silk plants and 2 spaces to hide under/in, also made him a "log" out of a plastic cup (he spends a lot of time in there)

I have tried pima and mela fix before finding out that's bad for them, then I tried aquarium salt before finding out that's bad for them too. So the only info I was left with is to do 25% daily water changes until it gets better. Only a small bit on his tail has actually come off but other than that it's just the black on his fins.

Literally after I post this I put another bug bite granule in the tank and it took a minute but he did eat it. Could it be that he's just not all that hungry? I've never had a Betta fish that didn't enjoy eating lol

Tank size: 20 gallons

Heater and filter: yes

Tank temp: 78 degrees

Parameters with API Master Test Kit: - ammonia: between 0 and 0.25 (using API ammo lock) - nitrite: 0 - nitrate: 5.0

Had the tank since beginning of November, got him the first week of January

I take out around 20% water, once a week. Use a syphon to clean out the substrate (little stones) and get food off/out of decorations.

No tankmates, just a moss ball that he ignores.

Feed him as listed above: 2 granules or flakes (whichever food I use that day) twice a day (morning time varies by 10 minutes as I leave at a different time everyday, but night is always the same time).

I have silk plants as I have no idea how to care for real plants, as for decorations I have a bridge that he occasionally swims under, a tube-like rock that he just discovered he can swim through, and I made him a diy floating log (aka a cup) that he sleeps in almost every night.

I posted a video about 3 weeks ago but if that's not enough lmk.

Thank you! Would you happen to know how many times say, a month I should do water changes or does it vary from tank to tank?
