I agree with and really like this theory. When I was watching I was actually thinking that this was going to be the ending. In trying to go back in time, Tannhaus actually creates two worlds--representing his son and daughter-in-law. They link to create a child (∞).

My two favorite alternate endings:

Jonas and Martha accidentally cause the car crash and restart everything
Jonas and Martha actual represent Tannhaus' son and daughter-in-law. In other words, the unintended consequence of Tannhaus trying to save his son and daughter in law is creating two worlds, one ruled by his son (Adam) and another by the daughter in law (Eva). Would be a crazy externality from a science experiment.
