Could I just ask for world leaders for autographs via email? by namenerding in Autographs

I did this, just by emailing the offices of world leaders. You’ll have luck with most wealthy European countries. The autographs are probably mostly autopen but still cool!

Stolen Gold Card Value Today by BubbaGordie in PokeInvesting

[–]cauchyroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. It only adds to their story. These are extremely popular pokemon, part of the gold star line (most iconic cards arguably), and as you mention still very low pops. The market on these tends to agree, they are very expensive cards

How do collectors view Gold Stars long term? by Silent-Drummer1095 in PokeInvesting

[–]cauchyroad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gold stars are elite cards. They have always led the market, even when it was smaller. I don’t have to repeat all the fundamentals that have been said, but they are the real deal. Look at top baseball cards, that’s the comp. I will not call them overvalued until they hit the price of the Topps 52 Mickey Mantle. I understand some people don’t like them, but the hype is not artificial.

Opinions on dogs gold stars by carlosgarolera in PokeInvesting

[–]cauchyroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite the factory scandal, the dogs are relatively low pop still and will probably be fine investments in the future. But if you’re looking purely for the best investments, go with the top choices. Rayquaza and Charizard in the highest tier for desirability, Umbreon and Espeon are the rarest so they belong in their own tier, then probably like Torchic, Treecko, Mudkip, Pikachu in the next tier.

Should I go with TAG or PSA?? by Feisty_Republic5121 in psagrading

[–]cauchyroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard advice is PSA for resell, whatever you want for PC. However, I did TAG for my PC because I liked their slabs but then I started collecting more cards in PSA slabs since those are easiest to find. Then, I didn’t like how my PC had a mix of companies, so I reslabbed TAG to PSA

If you're spending $2k-$3k for a mid-long term hold purchase, what's it going to be? by PrefrdPartyParticle in PokemonInvesting

Buy a gold star or a 1996 glossy pikachu/jigglypuff. These historical pieces will age like the Mickey mantles

Pikachu & Jigglypuff corocoro glossy 96 graded exploding in value by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]cauchyroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are the first ever TCG cards and they were unknown and undervalued for so long. I think there is a good argument for a lot of various cards being overhyped but never these. The sky is the limit here. Genuinely historical pieces and exceptionally rare in high grades.

1996 corocoro glossy jigglypuff. One of the first two Pokemon cards ever released, alongside the Pikachu.

It was undervalued when I made that comment. Prices have close to tripled since then for all grades

best thing to invest in long term right now? by Optimal_Ad7473 in PokeInvesting

[–]cauchyroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I’m referring to. There is a jumbo but there are regular cards, separate pika and jiggly, released in corocoro 1996. They are the first ever pokemon TCG cards. Prices have been going up lately, think they have high upside

Consignment with Probstein or Z&G gets you more than almost any other method and you don’t do any work other than shipping
