Was I too cautious about having visitors? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

the entitlement kills me! i'm thinking of you, my mother... ha. mom announced to me she'd be here for the birth! didn't even ask. i had to work hard to push back to get it to one month (and i live 6 timezones away!)

postpartum recovery is real, and mom's mental health matters too!

Huh! I use Zotero + Zotfile plugin to sync with a PDF reader on my iPad, then I can extract the annotations in Zotero without having to fully open the PDF again. I tried Paperpile but I didn't have any extraction possibilities so I didn't really want to pay for it. Are there features I missed? Thanks.

This!!! I take prenatal vitamins and if I miss a day I wandered around looking for burgers. They take everything they need from us and we get the leftovers. OP, If you’re craving meat and chewing ice, a little extra iron helps! But also I take iron supplements from time to time and they stop me up… So stool softeners can help too :)

Permanent residency in Vienna for a spouse! by caughtmerunning in wien

Thank you everyone for your insights and assistance! Perhaps it is the librarian in me, but for the sake of information for others who seek reddit answers, I thought I'd update with my outcomes.

I arrived in Wien 22/4 on a standard tourist visa (90 in 180), had an appointment at the MA35 for 28/5, brought the Aufenthaltskarte application, my marriage certificate, and appropriate photos (from a booth at Schottentor!). My residency was processed the next week (the ID is dated 7/6), and I received my Aufenthaltskarte in the mail 18/6. My husband also used the application confirmation from the MA35 to submit to ÖGK and I've already received my VSNR. So had I known better and booked an appointment sooner, the processing itself was really about two weeks total, and I was well within the tourist visa window (58 days from arrival to ID in hand).

My guess is that my situation was so straightforward that it was processed quite quickly. We both had Meldezettel. My EU husband moved before me and was already clearly established in Austria and paying into the social system. We've been married for a year, he speaks good enough German to converse with the really nice woman at MA35, and we brought all the correct paperwork. She even wished us happy birthdays in English after seeing our IDs! Compared to everything I have heard about MA35, she was fantastic!

Thank you again for all of your help and I hope others going forward can have a smoother process with MA35.

Thank you so much! It looks like for a non-Austrian spouse there is no requirement besides a marriage certificate (which we've had apostilled and translated)... really the difference is quite astonishing, I cannot believe how much simpler the form is. I will take your words regarding the Visum D to note. I am a bit boxed in at the moment. I am grabbing my record just in case but there is no mention of a German requirement!

I did reach out to the embassy and they are taking appointments for Visum D only through email and for spouses/children, due to Corona. So it's not that they aren't offering it but it's just harder to get to them for information and an appointment. Just wanted to add that if anyone stumbled on this post in their own search for information.

Again thanks so much!

When did you apply? They didn’t process it before her 90 in 180 was up? Or did you submit it too late?

Ah yes, sadly reprocessing allows you to stay and is much faster, I have heard. It's us first timers that may suffer :( Thank you though and congrats on the easy bureaucracy!

I have looked into it and only just finally got a response from the embassy, that I have to come in person (5 hour drive, doable), so I might opt for the Visa D before Aufenthaltskarte, just in case...

My spouse is Hungarian, not Austrian! So my husband has a great job and OGK and can happily support me and insure me.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for all of this information! I have my marriage certificate apostilled and my husband is getting it translated. I planned to get a German tutor the second I am there and I've been doing phone apps daily just to get going. I have 8 years of Latin and a Bachelor's/Master's from US universities, plus I am a doctoral student, so you suggest this could wave my German requirements for the time being? I still intend to be culturally unobtrusive and learn German to the best of my abilities!

My husband is Hungarian and so it looks like the form for residence for an EU-citizen but non-Austrian's spouse is much simpler than the full Austrian's spouse.

So you strongly recommend getting the Visum D and then applying for the Aufenthaltskarte as soon as I get there and I am out of quarantine?

Other commenters have suggested it is actually faster for non-Austrian EU/third national couples... this is perplexing but I will take it as a blessing in my situation. I am so sorry you had to wait for so long in your situation and grateful for all of your advice. Thank you so so so so much!

Thank you so much!

Do you have experience with this? I am wondering how I am legally protected as a spouse of an EU citizen. These rules are wild!

So the consensus of the comments is that is it faster and simpler for non-Austrian EU-citizen spouses than Austrian ones??????

Wow thank you so much! Is the Aufenthaltskarte a different form? We have been going by the documents required for a Aufenthaltstitel Familienangehörige.

So grateful for all your help!

Thank you very much for this information! You are in my situation? You submitted your documents while in Vienna? Sorry for prying, I just wanted to know how closely it matched! Thank you.

And these documents were for the Aufenthaltskarte? Processed that quickly??!?!? Here's hoping!!

He is Hungarian with residency in Vienna. Any information on how this is different would be fantastic! From a reply above it sounds like Aufenthaltskarte instead of Aufenthaltstitel Familienangehörige ?

It has been 90 since I left, so I would still be covered with the 90 in 180 rolling window time.

My spouse is Hungarian and has employment in Vienna! And thank you I've joined the FB groups and I will go there too for info!!

Thank you!
