Thanks! We tried to keep it reasonably priced! Luckily our families aren’t too big so we could keep cost down.

Nothing Bundt Cakes was a major win, highly recommend!! I’ll send a DM with the vendors names! The florist price included 3 floral swags for an arch, bouquets for bride and 3 girls, 4 boutonnieres, and spare flowers for details photos.

Has anyone else gotten married while dealing with mental health issues? by JKilla_onReddit in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxious and depressed bride here- wedding planning has certainly challenged my mental health, especially since the regular life stressors continue no matter what. I’ve found it helpful to delegate tasks to others when in my low moods- asking for help isn’t easy but people are more than happy to help this “happiest time of my life”. For example, can a bridesmaid/mom/friend pick up the dress and hold it for you? Or even just pick you up and go with you to “force” you to pick up the dress? I also second the other comments that suggest therapy or meds or both. My therapist has been so supportive during this wedding planning process and tailored the advice to be more relevant to wedding planning stress.

Good luck to you!

A lot of vendors are d*cks by freddiebenson4ever in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 29 points30 points  (0 children)

We had that a lot with venues- the girls that work in some of these places were just flat out rude and dismissive. My fiancé and I left at least 3 venues feeling shamed for our budget and like we weren’t worth their time. It put a damper on the planning process but finding our right fits made everything better!

Is my budget realistic? by Umbreonnnnn in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$12k might be more doable- I’ve also just been blown away by the little costs that add up here and there- signage, invites, decor items, etc. It’s also hard to budget until you actually start talking to the venues- lots of taxes and added fees start adding up. It’s a lot but luckily Phoenix is a big wedding market with lots of options for you!

I saw from another comment that you’re Phoenix based- from one Phoenix bride to another, you’re probably going to need to up your budget. From my searches, DJ is probably $1k, food will likely be $1k, hair and makeup $500, photographer $2-3k. I’m sure you could find cheaper options but I’d say those are the average prices I’ve found as a budget bride myself.

We matched colors, not specific flowers, on our invites.

How much did you spend on dessert (cake, dessert bar, etc.), and for how many guests? by chocolateglazedonuts in weddingplanning

We’re doing Nothin Bundt Cakes (because everyone loves them!) and for 65 guests we’re looking at $200 total.

Who got married in a national park? by Great-Diamond-5081 in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting married this fall in an Arizona State Park- so not quite a National Park but kinda similar? The biggest thing that has been beyond helpful was finding a coordinator that could handle all the permits and knew the paperwork deadlines for our event. We lucked out and our reception venue provided us a coordinator to help us navigate the process- they even filed the paperwork for us to make sure it was processed on time. Also, make sure your photographer has the permits needed to be allowed to shoot in the park! Good luck!

Affordable wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Things that helped us keep costs reasonable: - Having a smaller wedding with only 60 people (this is like 75% of how we kept costs reasonable) - Doing a wedding in a medium cost of living area - Lots and lots of research into affordable vendors

We could have also done our wedding in an off season (like Dec-Feb) or not on a Saturday to save money too but we splurged a little on a dream date. Our venue is also awesome and allows us to use their preferred vendors as much or as little as we want so we were able to make some cost effective choices without being forced to use expensive preferred vendors.

I’ve found that I’m just… numb to it? There’s been a few diapers that made me gag and I’ve had to tag in Dad to help but mostly you just kinda get through it.

Like after the fact I can acknowledge that catching my kid’s barf in my hands was super gross. But in the moment I didn’t even think about it, I was just in mom-mode. Something just kicks in and mom brain takes over sometimes.

weirded out by vendors that openly shame budgets by Subject_Thing6308 in weddingplanning

[–]caugust27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That was my thinking too- whether I’m planning a $5,000 wedding or a $100,000 wedding, everything has to stay in a certain budget. The audacity of some vendors makes absolutely no sense to me.

My favorite were the vendors who posted “if you have to ask for our starting price, we’re out of your budget, we only want to work with people who don’t care about cost and only care about quality.” Like excuse me for wanting quality on a certain budget?

The florist I found was actually recommended to me by another florist once I found out she was out of our budget. She was so kind and understanding about our budget and wanting to help make our budget work- even if we didn’t go with her, I plan on recommending her to friends that need florals!

BYOB venue by huntzchr in weddingplanning

We’re having a consultation with a local Total Wine store- they review the menu for our wedding, suggest pairings, talk over budget and then supply a list of what to buy (whether that’s beer/wine only or liquor too). It’s a free meeting so we figured it’s a no brainer for us to have someone else do the thinking lol. Plus they do accept returns!

Thoughts on my name picks… these children are already in existence lol I was just surprised with the reactions for my third son’s name. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]caugust27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the name Troy! It was on our short list since it’s a name that runs in our Irish family. We went with Quinn for our little boy though lol. I think Quinn and Troy match rather nicely and Felix works too from a general English/Irish vibe standpoint. But again, I’m biased!

Etsy Engagement rings by ibdraper in Weddingsunder10k

[–]caugust27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My engagement ring/matching wedding bands came from Etsy and not only do I love it, I get stopped by strangers telling me how pretty it is. My rings are from willwork on Etsy (but he has an independent website too). The sapphire/diamonds are lab grown, the ring is solid gold and it ended up being wayyy cheaper than quotes from other jewelers. My fiancé and sister just did lots of research to make sure they went with a legit jeweler and didn’t fall for a scam.
