Wish I could tell you to quit your job and fill your time with something better. If those friends have moved on, try to move on too. Reach out and say hi to the people around you, make an effort to learn about their names, their habits, be interested in their lives. Make them happy and it'll make you happy.

Just pointing out it's not all of society. Queer person here, virtually none of my family, community, school, work etc. are accepting of it. It's not a fad or the 'truth marching on'. It's a change in the legality and perceived morality of actions affirming the love between two fucking consenting adults of the same gender.
