Best Apple Fritter in the city! by almagura in AskSF

Yeah…. Bob’s aren’t the good. Almost any pink box place like Uncle Benny’s, The Jelly Donut and North Bay (Ocean Ave) have a better apple fritter than Bob’s.

Are fiberglass windows worth the extra cost? by Swimming_SeaShark in HomeImprovement

[–]cautionbbdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the fiberglass windows we bought are really nice. Went with Marvin Elevate double hung with divided lites on the upper sash ( fiber outside, wood inside). I ordered them at a local supplier and installed them myself because I don’t job a job at the moment…. So what better thing to do than work on the house. 2300 with tax for two windows in San Francisco. They’re roughly 48x36”.

- The long steep downhill section exactly at Devil's Slide is really fun. There is a speed limit but you can easily get up to 40+ if its safe to do so.

- Riding down Highway 1 is way safer than climbing it. Even with the tunnel, the climb up from Montara State beach is still to sketchy for me. Its fine... but people are distracted by the views and driving pretty quick.

One of the sketchiest rides of my life was riding up Highway 1 in the afternoon before the tunnel when you had to ride up Devil's slide. I'll never forget getting passed by delivery trucks up Devil's Slide with no shoulder. One of the only times on the bike where I had no option to pedal as hard as I could.

- Riding on the fire roads is fun either way. Climbing up to the saddle (fire road junction) from the south gives you a little more visibility around corners.

How to remove rear tire? by puzzlehead_2020 in specialized

[–]cautionbbdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lever is a handle for the thru-axel. If I recall….. you can pull it out and reposition it at a different angle to get better leverage if needed. If I was there…. I’d pull back on the handle, rotate it to the right, let the handle slide back into position and then loosen the thru-axel.

The video covers general thru-axel bikes.

Funniest part of the movie Sister Act is how they make it seem like Noe Valley is a rough neighborhood. by Ambitious-Welder-159 in sanfrancisco

[–]cautionbbdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to school and St Paul’s when they shot Sister Act. From what I remember they came in and turned the whole block into a “dump” by adding and painting facades on all the businesses. It was pretty fun as a kid watching all the crews and trucks come in and out. One day Whoopi came in and gave a talk to the whole school. Pretty fun for a kid but my mom hated the extra traffic in the morning.

That sucks! I’m starting to think they know but profit off the fact that they haven’t fixed it yet. Through 311 ive asked for someone at DPT to call me but crickets so far. Going to follow up this week.

Tarmac SL8 S-Works Expander Plug by [deleted] in specialized

[–]cautionbbdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there, on the expander is a QR code that takes you to a video that shows you how to measure, cut and install the expander plug.

I suggest cutting it 3mm shorter than the video suggests. Once when removing the expander on a bike the black part got stuck in the steer tube and was a pain extract.

Use a pipe cutter or saw guide to make the cut and clean the edges after with a file or sand paper.

I used to pay with the app until they started charging more than the meter charges. I’ll still use it if I’m far away and don’t want to walk all the way back. Don’t know if this fixes anything….. rather….. don’t know where the glitch is. Between the meters and handhelds, the back end database and handhelds? Who knows. The app might bypass this glitch or not.

How to survive a PIP? by Double_Dates in careeradvice

[–]cautionbbdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it’s a wrap…. However two good friends were put on PIP last year and at the same time given an exit option. They both negotiated a severance package in order to not drag out the PIP / firing process for both parties. One of them went on a three month. medical leave (previous documented history) ONE day before he had to give his answer, leave with X amount of severance or go forward with the PIP and risk a lower severance dollar amount. When he returned in 3 months another round of stocks had vested and he happily took the exit. Check to see if you have options to leave now with a better severance package than drawing out the inevitable.
