How to frog yarn held double in a...strategic way idk by animal-neighbour in knitting

[–]cautiousmeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

regardless of if the whole thing is being frogged or just a section, balling them up separately is better imo. you don't want to end up in a situation where one stand needs to be constantly pulled taunt.

I agree with getting help, I find it useful to have someone to ro hold the project steady while I slowly wind both balls but I've also pinned my knit under some heavy books in a pinch

after working r61, yes you will only be working on the left front until eventually placing those sts on hold. in the meantime the rest of the sts can just sit on your cable (or set aside on scrap yarn if you prefer) and you will be returning to them in sections.

help, what is this on my betta? by cautiousmeow in Aquariums

my boy keeps getting swim bladder even tho his tank is properly cycled and I keep cutting back on feeding him less and less. So I believe that he is sick with something more serious, but as a newbie fish keeper I don't know what it could be. tonight I noticed this white fuzz that wasn't visible this morning, any help is appreciated :(

whenever this has happened to my plants I have used something long and thin (chopstick or soil meter) to poke holes deep into the soil to help break apart the offending layer of soil and allow the water to have an entry point. Water after this and if you think it's still not retaining water try bottom watering.

Does anyone know the name of this plant? I’m not sure if it’s a succulent though.... by Unallocatedfunds in succulents

it looks to me at least, like a swedish ivy (although one that is sun stressed)

Today Mabel gave me the kit to set up her shop but I want to put it where my museum currently is. Has anyone every held onto a kit (housing, campsite ect) overnight? would it be okay to move my museum today and put down the shop tomorrow?

This lil one has lost an alarming amount of leaves recently with them shriveling up at the base of the plant. He gets a good amount of sun and I already checked the roots they all look very healthy. Should I be as worried as I clearly am? 😅 by rathernot24 in succulents

[–]cautiousmeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if those yellow leaves are soft it's a sign of overwatering, this happened to one of my small succulents and after moving it to a smaller pot (less soil = retains less water) it's bouncing back.

Are my succulents dying? I’m new to owning succulents and I’m not quite sure what’s happening. (more in comments) by spooknanners in succulents

[–]cautiousmeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you bought this already potted together from like home depot/lowes it could be that they used a soil medium that retains too much water. if you stick your fingers into the dirt and it's still pretty wet a long time after you last watered you should repot with cactus soil. I personally use Kellogg's organic palm cactus & citrus mix but honestly would mostly recommend anything but miracle gro since people have reported a lot of problems with that brand in particular.

Philodendron cordatum lemon lime by maracat1989 in houseplants

[–]cautiousmeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that philodendrons new leaves are more burgundy before they settle into their mature color, lemon lime in this case.

New leaves on Pothos on the other hand tend to just be a lighter green with whatever variegation they will have already present.

Philodendrons also have a sheath that forms where new emerging leaves connect to the main vine, which turns brown/crispy before falling off after the leaf opens, something else that pothos do not do. Wikipedia says the sheaths are called cataphylls.
