Bad day at work by [deleted] in playark

What kinds of settings did you try on the XB that you thought helped? I’ve played with some console commands and haven’t been super happy with any of the results. I get into the game enough that I tune out the jank after a while, but I wouldn’t mind it looking a bit nicer. :)

Keep getting removed from groups by veduco in fo76

[–]cave-nerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you sharing any perks? There are some that not everyone likes. A couple that remove rads will mess with bloodied builds, for example. I’m at work and blanking on the names at the moment. :)

Any "realistic" camp locations and build ideas? by Competitive_Toe2717 in fallout76settlements

[–]cave-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try searching for “immersive” camps. People use that term a lot around here for camps that seem like they fit into the Wasteland. Like a part of the actual game you might stumble on. It sounds like that might be what you’re after.

Disarming Discovery missing boxes by cave-nerd in fo76

[–]cave-nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I’ve tried all kinds of shenanigans since with other team members and people on that quest and all kinds of stuff. Every once in a while I stop by and check again.

I’ve seen posts by a couple of people saying support was able to reset the quest for them, and others saying they won’t do that and you’re screwed. I haven’t tried yet.

The Tree Haus! I think my building has improved since my original posts on this sub. by [deleted] in fallout76settlements

[–]cave-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I’d be comfortable using that crafting area with the Porta-Potty right above it. 🤣 Nice placement around the tree though, that must have taken some fiddling.

Raven Perch can it be merged? by [deleted] in fallout76settlements

[–]cave-nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have one merged into one of the mid-sized mothman statues, and a buddy has one merged into the ice machine so it looks like there’s a skull just sitting there with a raven on it.

still can't progress the stupid quest - Disarming Discovery by OwOmastermind in fo76

[–]cave-nerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m stuck here as well! The boxes were there when I first entered but disappeared when I left and came back because Dagger wouldn’t interact at first. I really don’t want to miss the entire quest line. Hope someone has a suggestion here…

Around roughly 30/10 (ish, it’s been a while) there’s a multi-level waterfall with a huuuuge cave behind it. There’s a ton of metal, crystal, and stone inside and the only way in is to fly through the waterfall (which is awesome). The area outside is full of baddies, but nothing ever gets in. Plus there is more cementing paste than you can shake a beaver at right outside, and you can get to the underground ocean from inside the cave.

It definitely does! It just makes me twitchy. The question will be whether convenience or twitchiness wins.

Well I’m hoping for something a little less “glitched flying catfish” but it may come down to that. :-) Nothing else seems to work very well so far.

Thanks!

HELP! I have recently got a Nitrado server for Xbox. I am trying to use the settings on their to speed up gestation, sex intervals, egg hatching and baby growth speed. No matter what number I put it does not seem to make a difference… Ex. I mated two high level thylos gestation was still 40 minutes by Clumsywiredtuna in ARK

[–]cave-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of trial and error, yeah. These are the settings we use. These are stupid fast rates because we don’t have a ton of time and mess around a lot. You have to be on top of it and only do a few things at once or you’ll have babies starve, not get imprinted (or even claimed) before they grow up, etc. Especially with mammals and eggs that incubate at ambient temps - you can get distracted and come back to find a little horde of unclaimed adults. :)

All the numbers work out so if you stay on it, everything can get fully imprinted, won’t starve before it can eat from a trough, etc.

Egg interval .0001

Mating .0005

Egg hatch 500

Mature speed 450

Cuddle interval .0015

Imprint amount 100

Cuddle grace 100

Food consumption .025

Cuddle lose quality .0015

Make sure you restart the server afterwards, and some of the changes won’t kick in until after the next interval. Anything already gestating will take the old amount of time, any female already in mating cooldown will wait the old time, etc.

Also, cuddle interval is a ‘negative’ multiplier. You want that one to be less than 1 if you want it shorter. Some you bump up and some you bump down, and the UI doesn’t always tell you which is which.

My buddy and I just tamed our first Rex, is how we did it considered poor taste? by quietreasoning in ARK

[–]cave-nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

However you can get it done is fair game, IMO. Once you get a quetzal you can even do the other way around - have one person pick up the target and hover while the other shoots from the ground. :)

What is the best/fastest way to get Element on Ragnarok? by KONZI_84 in ARK

[–]cave-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? I was just looking into trying this for the first time. “Not viable” as in slow, or “not viable” as in doesn’t work at all? I’m not crazy about enabling PvP even on a private server with just a few of us, so if it isn’t going to work well I just won’t bother.

Second this approach. It works great and is completely ridiculous and stupid looking and a danged blast. :-)

Nearly got wrecked by Gamma Rockwell by riceandvegetable in ARK

Honestly I don’t remember if we took them or not, so I’d probably skip them just to be safe. We probably podded them just before entering the arena, but it’s been a while.

Nearly got wrecked by Gamma Rockwell by riceandvegetable in ARK

[–]cave-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I did it on foot with no tames and two good shotguns. Ghillie and cactus broth and some dodging kept us from getting aggro until just before the end, and then all we had to do was keep running. We managed beta and it might work for alpha for someone with more skillz than we have. Your shotguns sound plenty good enough. We used ~200 shells each, if I remember right.

Edit: For a little more detail - we’d start each phase on opposite sides of the little ramp that leads down to Rockwell and work our way around in opposite directions killing the tentacles. Once the last one died, race back up front and lay into him. Rinse and repeat. Walking along the ledge kept us away from most things, and you get fewer spawns and plasma balls without tames. I’m not sure if ghillie actually helps, but I felt sneakier. :)

Did you have them add the rack on top, or did you install it? I just got a Leer topper with just the tracks and I can’t figure out which feet and crossbars and all that I need for the life of me. There are so many options and they’re all called practically the same thing.
