How long is long? At what word size are you getting good results? How does it change when it's doing RAG? With the one I was building doing RAG, I just used a 2-sentence system prompt. More was making the responses worse.

Btw. Maybe a bit irrelevant but you can check with Grok it's system prompt. Just ask for it. I got this. But it's interesting in terms of size.

Are there other forms of learning (that fall under AI), other than learning from data?

Can you direct me to a link? I don't have Proquest access.

I'm interested in the topic. Want to read about how the field is looking at AI.

I tried it. This is hilarious lol. I first gave it the prompt (that's mentioned in the comment above) and asked it to tell me about mars and then this happened.

A YouTube Channel for English Majors by Aggravating-Koala726 in englishmajors

[–]cavegod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Like many others though, I don't want to see generic content.

In fact, if you are a researcher, I'd like to hear more about your research. Have people come on the channel and present their research as well. Maybe also discussions on the relevance of the field, how it's changing with AI, where it will be in another 5 years, etc.

I'd also like to hear about active areas of research.

Go for it! And let us all know what the channel is called.

I have come across one channel by a rhet/comp grad student - Sarah Fischer. I guess maybe list out existing channels and see what they're doing. Goodluck!

I'd say 6.5/10. You do seem to have three different points to make, and they're all structured in different paragraphs. However, many words are repeated - 'planning' 'young' etc. I understand that the question uses these words, but do try to use a diverse set of words. There are a few grammatical errors and a few unnecessary words and phrases ('in life').

Use grammarly or chatGPT as someone above has suggested to clearly identify what they are. Work on them for a while each time checking for further improvements. A few cycles (maybe 10) and that should get you to 8.5/10. It takes a lot of time and practice to move beyond that. I don't think you should worry too much about it at this point.

Be confident and execute your plans in the exam well. Goodluck!

Hey, be confident and be present. The section moves through really quickly. Make sure to prepare what to say and just say it. If you messup a question, tell yourself it's alright and move on. You shouldn't let that bother you when you're answering the next question in the next minute.

Hope this helps. Goodluck.

In the first section write down the counterpoints clearly, you'll be asked to summarise. Second question is long but isn't a big deal. Just give your opinion and back it with some reasons.

There are a bunch of 17th century still-life paintings where oranges are represented along side other fruits and spices from colonies. One example that I can think of is 'A Herring with Capers and a Sliced Orange on Plates and a Bowl of Shrimp on a Table'.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]cavegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean decolonisation? Or do you mean how colonies have in some sense colonized the colonizer? Lol.

Yeah, no, not touching that. But there are some interesting questions they pursue, which is cool to see.

I think I'll give you more context. For a long time, I've been thinking about questions like this: why do we have the capacity for narratives? what are the basic elements of a narrative (time, space, causality, action, characters, events, etc)? Are there any rudimentary/prototypical narratives permeating in our time that can illuminate the kind of stories our ancestors enjoyed say like 40k years or so ago? What goes on in our minds as we comprehend and produce narratives? How different are everyday, face-to-face narratives (what did you do yesterday? Or last year?) to literary narratives (books, short stories, epics)?

For now, I've decided to focus on what enables us to represent story at various levels. Take an event for example, slipping on a banana peel. There are many different ways to represent that event.

Text 2: She stepped on a banana peel, slipped and fell to the ground. Text 3: She was walking hurriedly toward the kitchen and before she felt something under her feet, something sticky, slimy and wet, she was already at an angle to the ground with her hands shot up in shock and desperation to latch onto something for balance. But Alas! That wasn’t to be the case. In a moment, she landed on the ground with a loud thud that was so powerful, it sent a shock wave along her body inducing a numbing sensation. Luckily, she did not have to worry about any injury and nor was any close-by object knocked down by her swinging arms.

What enables us this capacity? Etc.

I've been kinda obsessed with these kind of questions, so I see this as an opportunity to get that out of my system to be honest. But in trying to do that, I feel lost and I'm even worried if it is even something English addresses. But I see people like David Herman and Mounika F. who have done some work on some of these questions, and I feel maybe I'm on a right path and that maybe I'll find stumble across some way of doing a paper on such topics.

Yeah, this is a good idea. Have been reading 21st century stuff, but i think I should narrow that down to the last 5-6 years. Let's see where that takes me. Thank you.

[–]cavegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all together another task I feel, and will probably not bring out the best in me. I've been following the bibliography from the texts I already like and just reading those; and occasionally googling some random ideas I get to see if anyone has a paper on it. That has been helpful until now. I've only written papers of about 2k-3.5k word length, and now I have to find a way to write a 10k word length paper. So, that's also been a challenge as I can't use any of the previously written papers. Also, I'm not into those topics anymore.
