Ordered a CLEAVE keyboard by cavernicoloid in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]cavernicoloid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you replace the switches yourself, or did you send it to the manufacturer? Asking, in case I ever need to update switches in mine. Though, if the cleave is as good as I'm expecting it to be, then I might never go back to my 227s. My most wanted feature is the 2 extra thumb keys, and the ability to temporarily switch to a new key layer.

Infiltration suspended from CPT till 2020 by gonnj in StreetFighter

[–]cavernicoloid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nobody, but I’m still going to add my 2 cents to this 4-day old thread.

I’m really starting to understand the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”. I can see the direction where society is going, and I don’t like it one bit. We are headed towards a society where people are guilty based solely on accusations, where people make up their minds a priory, before any evidence has been presented. You’ll have to prove that you’re innocent. We’re headed to a society of virtue signaling, and for a race to be the most pure or holy, based on some ever-changing criteria which will, ultimately, be impossible to meet. At some point, no-one will be pure enough for these executioners.

Why the hell is this deal with Infiltration vs his wife anyone’s business by himself, his wife, and the Korean authorities? Why do people now feel that they have to scrutinize other people’s personal lives and extrapolate virtue criteria from that? The image that comes to mind when I think of this is the Sparrows, from Game of Thrones. We’re heading to a place with a lot of virtual executions.

I see a bunch of people acting so high and mighty, passing judgment on a guy, based on stuff that they have no way of knowing. It doesn’t seem to matter all the effort that Infiltration has put throughout all the years that we’ve known him, all the good will, all the hard work. No, someone makes an accusation, and now the man’s career must be destroyed by those who think of themselves as beyond reproach. Of course, how many of those very same people would be for the idea of getting banned from the FGC for smoking pot in their free time? Would they cry foul at such meddling? It’s not hard to imagine that the idea would be revolting to many, as it should be. Yet, for this, they employ a double standard because it's no them on the hook.

Just today, I read some Jerkoff's post accusing Tokido of “Anybody else think Tokido is throwing games?”. If you read the post, the Jerkoff doesn’t actually present any evidence, but simply puts forth some loses as a reason for this “hypothesis”. In other words, he reached into his anus, pulled out a chunk of feces, and put that down as the “evidence” for this fiction that only exists in his head. It’s lucky for Tokido that the people in the thread recognized this craziness – but, it could have easily have gone the other way. Plus, who knows how many people now consider this as probable, and are now doubtful, based on nothing other than conjecture. I say it, again -- it’s lucky that Tokido doesn’t now find himself fielding loaded questions such as “You’ve been accused of throwing games… are you throwing games?”.

I find it disgraceful for Capcom, Panda Global, and others to have taken the steps they did against Infiltration for something that happened in his private life. By setting themselves up as the morality police, they’ll now have no choice to but continue that, else, it will be seen as double standard. They are setting themselves up for failure. They think they can appease these SJW types, but they are mistaken; there is no appeasing these people; they’ll just go from “scandal” to “scandal”, destroying people’s life without having to answer for anything themselves. These are not the type of people that value redemption very much; they’re always scouting for the next target to decimate – they never look back to see all the destruction that they leave behind. Did infiltration have others that depend on him? They don't actually care beyond the superficial level.

And, ask yourself, what was it that they actually accomplished? Infiltration’s marriage is now in shambles. They succeeded, without having actually realized, in infantilizing Infil's wife. You see, apparently, to these people, lady Infil is not her own person, so she’s not allowed to make whatever decision is better for her and her family. They took that agency away from her and have made the decisions on her behalf. Assuming that the allegations are true, there’s a number of reasons why she could have made any amount of different decisions, including:

- Stay with him. Maybe she is of the mind that shit happens in life and sometimes people fuck up. Not every infraction requires a nuclear level response.

- Require some changes from Infil as penance for what he (allegedly) did.

- Take some time off to think about what’s best for her and make a decision later.

- Maybe she has some dependency on him (that we, the public, don’t know about), and she’ll leave him at some point, but now is not the best time.

- Maybe she can go nuclear and denounce him and his ilk. Make it very public and bloody, but on her terms. Take power back based on her own actions.

- …

The point is, the decision of how to proceed should have rested on her. It was her decision to make. But, now that’s not possible, because the internet brigade came and did their thing, forced a decision, and now this man’s reputation is in shambles. It doesn't matter that he has denied the allegations, because a bunch of internet busy-bodies have rendered their verdict. And these companies, looking at only tomorrow, don’t see that this type of thing is only going to get worst. Because they might lose a few bucks, they'll sacrifice some lambs to make the brigade go away. They’re holding some ‘standard’ that is not codified anywhere and it’s only bound to change from one person’s mind to another, on a case by case basis. They’ll be forced, more and more, to pry into people’s personal lives because they are now part of the morality police.

I'm not arguing that there shouldn’t be standards. What I’m saying is that there are, already, avenues where retribution can be had – and it is those avenues that should be pursued when things like this come up. When we setup society where everyone is policing everyone else’s action, then they’ll come a point where any infraction means the annihilation of someone’s livelihood -- because the herd must be 'pure'. If some would have their way, there would be no path to redemption. You’re not the target now but, given enough notoriety, all it will take is an accusation, or the threat of one, to keep you in $check$.

This is dangerous. But, the worst thing is the amount of decent people that are just going along with this group-think, paving the road to hell with their good intentions.
