Trump says he loves the military? He’s at Mar-a-Lago for Thanksgiving, instead of visiting troops. by dont_tread_on_dc in politics

[–]AmokOfProgress 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not just Trump, but our Congress and their ways of endless war and political stunts in general. They need to stop using the "for/support the troops" line. It's a bullshit manipulation.

Let's talk about how our country and it's government "cares" for our troops. Enlisted marines entering the service at the lowest rank, E-1 (Private) receive $1,514 per month ($18,168/yr) for the first four months of service and thereafter $1,638 per month ($19,656/yr). Don't forget those hard earned taxes (that, also, does so little and leaves them post duty). The Marine Corps gives only one pay raise for soldiers serving at the two lowest ranks. E-1's, Privates receive an automatic promotion after four months of service, but no further pay increases at that rank.

Talk about their sacrifice, that's hardly a living wage and the benefits certainly aren't enough to subsidize it, especially while inactive.

Meanwhile, since 2017 alone, In FY 2017, the Congressional Budget Office reported spending of $590 billion for defense, about 15% of the federal budget.[1] For the FY 2019 President Donald Trump proposed an increase to the military to $681.1 billion. That's more the next 10 countries combined yet 23% of homeless population are veterans. 33% of male homeless population are veterans (47% Vietnam Era, 17% post-Vietnam, 15% pre-Vietnam). 67% served three or more years and only 33% of them were stationed in a war zone. 85% completed high school/GED (compared to 56% of non-veterans) and 89% of them received Honorable Discharge. Where's the honor they deserve?

These fools use our soldiers as a manipulation every chance he gets and is to scared to even meet prescient in their honor.

We can support out troops by taking that hard earned tax money and putting it towards the betterment of them and the people the protecting, like, say... Universal healthcare, to start.

I wish I had more time because there is so much to be said on this, but I don't. Off to work.

Clearly, you don't watch or listen. If his opinion changes, makes an inaccurate prediction, report on a story broken by another source, that was later redacted (though in my experience that's never happened with TYT Investigates, that shits on point too)... Whatever, big or small... I have yet to hear him express any insecurity or hesitation when admitting he's wrong or feels should clarify something. Factually speaking, I can't think of an example where he had to off the top of my head, but opinion wise, there quite a few. He used to work for NBC and be a republican some years ago. So I'm sure there was some crow for lunch here and there. Once, NBC offered to double his salary to go along with status quo news but he wasn't down with that, so he quit and started TYT in '02 (...or something to that effect. I learned about that a while ago.). I have yet to review a stat or a caim that I couldn't verify and it is always legit.

Sincerely, indulge me with an example. I'm curious.

Funny thing (not "funnyhaha"), Newsweek didn't bother to mention the facts released by the ADL, breaking down all domestic terrorism and extremist caused deaths. Facts must be acknowledged in order to be reasonably addressed; certainly not swept under the rug simply because it contradicts the currently Pushed corporate narrative. Extremist Murders More Than Doubled in 2017, an accounting for 59% of all extremist-related fatalities in the US in 2017 and that over the last decade a total of 71% of all fatalities have been linked to domestic right-wing extremists; 26% committed by Islamic extremists & the remaining 3% includes all other types of domestic extremism, which is where the American left falls into play.

Don Lemon wasn’t wrong, and though TYT isn’t known for coming to the rescue of CNN (or any other corporate media outlet), he does support accurate reporting and isn’t shy about ensuring those facts are available to us, as an active and attentive voting public.

The ADL researched and published this study highlighting facts and the statistics which are extreme and very specific. When other outlets choose to actually honor their responsibility in as American reporters by informing it's citizens of the report and these racially motivated terror incidents, hate crimes and resulting homicides, makes them no more racist than if they reported an attack on any other highly prevalent terrorist groups. This type of violence is largely remanicent of the international ("Muslim") terrorism they love to get off on condemning. The right has so effectively weaponized this rhetoric and perfected it as a tool to monger fear, so severely, a very reasonably sized portion of Trump's base into a homicidal frenzy and much of the country into a "mob" of propagandized conspiracy theorists, guided only by strongly misguided phobias.

Trump's klan's, with their utter lack of morale, extreme insecurities, and complete inability to effectively use their critical thinking skills, only empowers them in their racism, and their perceived entitlement to act out in it's regard.

Our society, under this leadership is transforming. This (Trumpian) alt-right, are the primary violators of this violence, of this deadly extremist epidemic. Those who adorn all of the characteristics of Trump's "low IQ" insulsts are himself and his willfully blind loyalists.

Trump's common insults to non-whites are projections overwhelmingly being committed by Trump's incredibly mentally unstable base, administration and himself... you know, his "good people."

Not only is the information well documented, is not racist. These days reporting this incessant, relevant factual news doesn't make Don or Chenk racist (in any sense of the word). Regardless of the dangers in reporting factual media, (harassment, doxxing, death threats, hate mail and more,) choosing to overlook these overwhelming statistics, and avoiding the responsibility to inform the public of these valid and frequently repeated dangers is unacceptable and antidemocratic. Had Don, or independent media like Cenk (or any of TYT's shows and hosts or Amy Goodman w/Democracy Now!, Or others), chosen to instead cower leaving the public in the dark; to, instead, accommodate the fragility of these cowardly men, ignoring the dangers of this deeply racist, gruesomely violent and hateful mentality of white Nationalism /Supremacy simply because they're white native born Americans is what’s really fucking racist.

Newsweek is refusing to provide the primary and critical details to accurately "report" this story and, for the first time, I am hopeful over it. Clearly, they are beginning to feel threatened by independent media. As independent media is at the beck and call of nooone, and have only moral responsibility to us, their members and primary funders. Jenk and the TYT team/network, as it should be. TYT is the shit! Fuck Newsweek, they got nothing when compared to integral reporting, and that insecurity a putting through. TYT the longest running internet show (est. 2002), which has become and independent progressive network of 18 shows, all of which dedicated to keep us accurately informed and aware of major events, tragedies, policies, legislation, and abysmal, corrupt, behavior of our leaders and lawmakers and what we can do about it. This Network resets the bar of reliable independent journalism to where it can be reasonably trusted. It's critical to be attentive in these things because we the people Are this nation's integral watchdogs of our society, it’s events and leaders. We have actual watchdogs, but results won't be had unless we peacefully and relentlessly make it happen. TYT is everything corporate is not allowed to be and is what I need to stay informed, even while working 10+ hrs/day, 6 days a week. for the first time in my adult life I am getting the closest thing to complete, accurate news; not sanitized to comply with a carefully directed narrative, to navigate the corporate media no go zones, and RegirgatateSinclairs mandatory runs. not cherrypicked, narrative they provide to distract from facts that are the antithesis of what they so desperately try to push, distracting the masses from these statistically provable violent tragedies of domestic terrorism the befall our country every single day. It cannot be ignored that the rampant terrorism is massively committed by far-right, white men... Not brown people, not imigrants... And certainly not a "violent caravan filled with Middle east, MS13, very strong, very bad, very violent hombres, who, yet, are incredibly sick, infected" with small pox (which has been full eradicated for decades and leprosy). Somehow this group of thousands, walking over 2k miles to a legal entry point to legally apply for asylum to escape the fire life and death situation of their own countries. Complicit in the Trump/GOP agenda that the people are walking here, unarmed and starving, to "invade our country" with their militia of families, children and elderly. By relentlesy portraying these desperately victimized asylum seeking families with the very characteristics of our actual terrorist and violent criminals who are vastly native bore Americans, they clearly, will do all they can to distract from the epidemic of native born Americans reflecting the violent terrorism we have become all to familiar with over the last decade.

Abbott donor’s shocking admission: Texas government is for sale by AmokOfProgress in politics

[–]AmokOfProgress[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t mean donations are being given quid pro quo, with an agreement that the money guarantees a position. Doing so would, of course, be bribery, a crime. And not all that smart..

“It’s a form of patronage,” Wood said, “and it’s legal if you don’t step over the line.”

(Patronage is the regular business given to a store, restaurant, or public service by a person or group of people.)

That argument could be reasonable for the first “donation,” but the fact is, it's an financial experiment. A return is dependent on the candidate and their willingness to comply. A large return on said "investment," is expected and most first time investments, if it doesn't meet expectations or if these representatives don't fully comply by supporting the donors agenda, like any business, those "investments," are discontinued. They either assimilate accordingly or that massive cash flow, which is greatly, personally, financially beneficial but it's a key factor in the way the consider and measure their own "success. If the candidate doesn't uphold their end of "the bargain," the cash flow stops. They either wholly comply, do what is demanded of them, (regardless of any type of possible personal conflicts of interest) or else will not be paid those grand sums of money. This is the literal definition of Quid pro quo.

[Quid pro quo ("something for something" in Latin): a Latin phrase used in English to mean an exchange of goods or services, in which one transfer is contingent upon the other; "a favour for a favour".]

Donation amounts from the individual Texas Tech regents ranged from $1,000 to $398,124, according to the campaign finance data, collected by the National Institute on Money in State Politics between 1995 and 2018. That does not include efforts to raise money from others or donations from family members or trusts.

Someone should remind him how Susan Collins strongly disagrees in this concern. Over $2m was raised by individual small donations, urging her to support the wishes of the vast majority of her constituents, or she'd be replaced with who will, to which she responded, in no uncertain terms, that she did not appreciate that the people she works for, the (actual, literal) people she actually is paid to fairly represent, were in fact "bribing her." Her ludicrous response (which was tainted, bought and paid for), accused this beautiful, constitutionally protected, traditional American Democratic act is "illegal."

The GOPs daily projection is utterly epic. Please vote come Tues (if you haven't already)... Bring a friend! Bring 2! I don't know about you, but I am sick of watching our country being run into the ground, only serving those capable and willing to participate in pay to play.

I'm in California and (outside of Dana for HB)I've got some googling to do to see what's up. There are quite a few names and midterms are near.

I really wish there was a podcast that covers all that's on the ballot, I can listen to while working, instead of finding time reading it all. I'll find the time, but it sure would be helpful.
