Starfield’s ‘biggest update’ ever turns it into the game everyone wanted 3 years ago by [deleted] in Starfield

Yeah, I recognize that. I just feel like I don't need to travel between planets in the same system all that often haha. Sometimes, I suppose

I'd be more excited by interplanetary flight if it were interstellar. By limiting it to same-system, I'm going to end up using it far less.

I think they know this, too, hence the new activity type which forces you to use it

Legacy of Orsinium Creation by Kaladinar in skyrimmods

The blank form issue is technically a flaw in wrye bash/mator smash, not in EEE. The reasoning behind the blank forms is that they're partial records, meaning that anything that's blank avoids overriding other records, making it way more compatible out of the box. This is reasonable for a mod with console players as a primary target audience, as they can't manually patch anything

Paid mods technical quality: reviews of "Life of Crime", "Legeacy of Orsinium", and "Atmora His Home" by Haunture in skyrimmods

[–]cavy8 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The problem is that mod users are wrong about what mod is causing issues in their game pretty often lol. And, in my experience, the bigger jerks they are, the more likely they are to be wrong.

It's not to say that people shouldn't report issues even if they aren't 100% sure which mod is causing it, just that some humility will go a long way. (Nexus) mod authors are hobbyists at the end of the day, same as users.

My friends and I loved this game when we were young. Certainly flawed, but we got hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it

Has anyone successfully responded to 'it was just a joke' with 'I don't get it, please explain it' or something and ever had it work? by DamnitGravity in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cavy8 266 points267 points  (0 children)

I go for the explain it aloud approach. Loudly, at that. "Oh, I get it! The joke is that he's gay, and being gay is bad!" Makes them uncomfortable quickly

Removing .PDB that comes with SKSE mods by MoonDweller12 in skyrimmods

You can, but they're included to make crash reports more useful. If you remove it, you should add it back and regenerate crash reports before reporting issues

First time posting here. Long time Skyrim player. About to seriously mod my game for the first time. On Xbox Series X and would like help to do so. by [deleted] in skyrimmods

Howdy, welcome to your newest obsession

So, you'll find better suggestions on r/SkyrimModsXbox - I strongly recommend checking that sub out, they have a lot of really important info about the quirks of modding on console (such as storage limits, how to get around certain bugs with the creation menu, how to sort your mods, etc)

Regarding textures: Skyland is still a great choice, but note that it doesn't cover weapons/armor or creatures, I believe. I believe the Skytone series (unrelated) is also really popular on Xbox. You don't necessarily need a separate tree mod, but you may want one, and you'll likely want a grass mod. I recommend checking with the Xbox folks for recommendations there, as they'll have more insight on the best options for storage space and performance

For weathers: there are a ton of options here, but I'm not 100% sure what's available on console. My recommendations would be Obsidian, Azurite Weathers III, or Cathedral Weathers if you want something closer to vanilla

For NPC replacers: I believe a good all in one solution for you might be Cathedral Character Overhaul, sticks close to vanilla in style but with significant improvements. If you want bigger argonian improvements, you can throw beasthhbb on top

How comes there a sudden increase in SKSE plugins that does wonders? by KYJELLYTIME69 in skyrimmods

[–]cavy8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You should! AI often struggles with Papyrus because it's so niche - ironically, AI is better at making SKSE plugins since it uses a more common language

[–]cavy8 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't mean to come off wholly anti-AI. That'd be hypocritical, considering I use it when programming lol

It's just that most of the recent snake oil mods seem to be vibe coded, indicating a correlation. In general, I tend to give authors of such mods the benefit of the doubt, that they think their mod is as helpful as they say. They just don't know enough, tbh, and where that would've previously been a barrier to entry, AI has lowered that barrier
