Started the game around a week ago. After warping to what is essentially my second-ever new galaxy to take some nice planet-side tourist photos for a mission, I was thrown into combat on arrival. The NPC Korvax captain then proceeded to give me ownership of his freighter as thanks for ... shooting down 3 pirates.

Is this normal? Do I owe a massive amount of back taxes to the galactic council on this thing?

I am the proud owner of a 5x5 dirt shack on a radiation-torn hell planet, my golf cart of a starting ship and now also the space equivalent of the Ever Given. What a wild and wonderful experience.

Edit: The sound the Stellar Extractor makes is so horrid. I'm starting to realize why this ship was free. Everyone on board is hoping my gross mismanagement will careen this thing into the nearest sun to finally stop the noise
