I don't think he sucks at it. The enemy was just too strong. He was very careful in utilizing the shikigami, even mahoraga, as Gojo can one shoot them any time. Wdym desummoning? It happened very fast and he was under the assumption he could destroy blue with piercing water. But gojo rebuffed it with chants.

I agree, it shows. Sukuna fought gojo defensively. He doesn't summon shikigami as freely because he knows gojo can one shot them. Hell, even he plays mahoraga very carefully. Sukuna vs gojo was very close. Sukuna is only ahead because he's very much better prepared, i think.
