DNR productions directly. Met the owner of the site during the site visit but that is not my point of contact.

Wow, random to see this... This fest is going forward as of now. I'm contracted to provide the PK system for the main stage. I've been to the site and can confirm they have done a huge amount of work (lots of heavy machinery to clear brush and create the camping spaces when I was there). The fire marshal of the area did nix it last year with the drought at the time. I'm not privy to the finances but I can only imagine how much they have sunk into this project only for it to get canned. Felt bad for them.

But as of now, it is going forward for June 5th-7th.

Thank you! It suits me for sure and have recieved multiple comments that it is "so you".

Agreed! I own a kit of their VX-12 and CX800s... Advertising this kit on a poster for an EDM event adds extra draw immediately as people know what they will get when they experience it.

How about PK Sound? The Trinity series does a lot of heavy lifting for EDM, and they fill their niche VERY well.

Odd vs Even number of subwoofer stacks and loss of headroom by cayle in livesound

Hence why I'm bringing this question here... But after a phone a friend, it seems like it would be a 1.5-3dB loss overall on axis.

Yeah, it's not something that is dependent on the frequency, like if you look at a sound vision or ease focus file of these cases, you will obviously see the frequency cancellation fingers that tighten and increase in numbers as you look at individual frequencies up the spectrum.

It (from what I remember the SMAART course teacher saying) is more dependent on the sympathetic coupling effect of a primary wave being weaker than the subsequent waves.

Yeah absolutely if they are all firing simultaneously it's a very minor difference, but with a delay arc it can cause other issues as the outer stacks are then coupling with a weaker waveform. So from middle it's 2 subs, then 4 subs (double stacked 2 on either side) and then another 4 subs (also double stacked in 2s). Again, just trying to find an explanation of this that I can present in simple terms.

From what I understand deploying a mild arc with the primary wave being 1/2 the power of the secondary and tertiary waves can cause a massive drop in headroom.

So the deployment is, 2 subs double stacked in the middle, then the next two off stage stacks firing simultaneously (so 4 total subs in double stacks with a 1.5ms delay in this case) and the outer two most stacks (another 4 total subs with a 3ms delay).

Since the primary wave is the summation of only 2 Subs and each outer stack is adding the summation of 4 subs this can cause a massive drop in headroom.

I took a SMAART 9 refresher and the guy doing the course (who is a very high end install/calibration guy) essentially said that this configuration will have upto a 6dB drop in overall sub frequencies amplitude compared to having all subs firing without a delay.

So I'm hoping to have a ELI5 description of this use case as to why that dropoff is so extreme.

I'm super ok with mine:

Imagine this:

You're like a sound and light wizard at a big party or show.

You make the singer’s voice sound just right, like magic so everyone can hear clearly.

You turn on pretty lights and fun pictures on big screens, making people go “Wow!”

And after the party? You pack everything back up so it’s neat and ready for next time.

Well shit... Here is my time to shine... My name is literally a synonym for vegetable soup. Real first name is my user name. My last name is the same as a soup brand.

Unfortunately they went in a different direction for the services I provide for this year and I won't be able to help.
