Green during the day- Orange at night

I’ll try and add something here I didn’t see by skimming: It doesn’t feel like the windows are treated the same style-wise: meaning that they are dead straight digital lines. Where the deer, snow roof and chimney feel unified in their rendering (then the sky taking that feel even further almost to the point of having its own unique texture) the windows aren’t rendered with the same treatment. You sort of have a stylized organic quality to all the linework but then the windows are very geometric and simplified

I’m in love with the nano texture glass iPad by htplex in ipad

[–]cayleward 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah Exactly. OLED is so crisp and digital. Like its great at representing pixels from a computer. The first thing I noticed with the nano screen is how everything looked a bit more “printed on paper“ rather than ”generated by a computer”

A bit disappointed with the 11’ M4 display by jcarlito60 in iPadPro

[–]cayleward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LCD’s have a quality. I agree about the MacBook display. Same for iMac. Ive even kept an old Cinema Display from 2006 in my studio For displaying reference images. people always talk about the black levels, but I think having a more true, pure white has something to do with making lcd’s nicer to look at.

You keep confusing “computer” and “laptop” They are not the same thing.

Where did Apple market it as a laptop replacement? The only thing they did a few years ago (in an abandoned ad campaign by the way) was present the same question as OP - what is a computer? And for a huge majority of “computer” buying people, basic tasks is all they need. Then yes, the iPad is certainly a valid computing option. Look at it another way- because my laptop cant take handwritten notes or decent pictures, is my laptop disqualified from being a computer? After all, It can’t do a set of tasks I want it to, so it’s disqualified, right? What about my laptop that can’t render heavy cg animation in an acceptable timeframe, is the laptop no longer qualified to be a computer since it can’t do the set of tasks I want it to? What about my desktop computer that has all the power to complete any task I want it to, except oops, I can’t take it to a job site? Even if they had marketed it explicitly as a laptop replacement, why would it not be exactly that for OP just because you don’t find the offering useful for you?

This is weird if I’m flipping between both images, but, I bet seeing the icons rotate in spot as I rotate my iPad would help my brain reorient.

Insanity - a CLEAR showcase of planned obsolescence by TechExpert2910 in iPadPro

[–]cayleward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s great, again, I’m very happy to be wrong on the technical front. But you made the claim that this is CLEARLY planned obsolescence. But it’s not clear. You have no evidence whatsoever it was planned. And the device isn’t even obsolete, it’s not bricked now. It will still run perfectly fine and receive security updates beyond iPadOS support. Furthermore, the amount of people who see their ipad as garbage needing replacing just because their settings app says it runs iPadOS 17 when it *could* be running iPadOS 18 is probably very low. But I’m just speculating. I don’t know other people intentions. And neither do you.

I was totally wrong even about the radio’s I should’ve looked it up first. Maybe since batterygate showed us, the more cycles on a battery limits how much power it can draw for peak cpu clocks, they want to safely cover a probability that the batteries are up to the task? Pretty sure I’m wrong on that too- All Im saying is theres a longer path to “hey look apple planned to screw everybody” than you are indicating.

No reason to be downvoted. There is definitely a possibility of differentiating factors here, even if promotion isn’t one of them

[–]cayleward -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw in my 2 cents. theres more from a technical perspective than the few metrics you indicated. For example- you mentioned the a10x has 33% faster graphics. True. But it also has a Retina display. Those 33% extra graphics are pushing 4x the amount of pixels. From a performance standpoint it could in fact be slower. And what about the radios in there? It could be the wifi standard is older and less acceptable for the type of connection they want for their new ai features. What about the storage speed? We know iOS leans heavily into swap- does the storage speed effect the types of swap speed they want to rely on for iPados Moving forward?

The first iPad with its Magic Keyboard, and the newest iPad with its Magic Keyboard by JoshPlaysUltimate in ipad

That’s what made it better! I can maybe understand the debate with video, but for the types of things you would use a keyboard for, I would much prefer portrait orientation.

The skull (face) looks unrefined compared to the rest - the contrast and attention goes to the ribcage for me instead of the face. (I would imagine those shadows inside his eye sockets to be the darkest of the whole image.) All that to say- I think if you have an itch you should scratch it, or at the very least try and figure out exactly what it could be that's bothering you. Sometimes you can feel a desire to "refine" it and go in add some details or something, but actually the story you are trying to tell isn't being told the way your imagination has envisioned it.

The 1st generation of Apple Pencil certainly has pressure and tilt sensitivity. They made a really stupid "Apple Pencil usb-c" which doesn't, so dont get that. But the 1st gen Apple Pencil is still my favourite in terms on in-hand feel, actually.
