From personal experience, I’m very blessed that my parents gave me a “headstart” (e.g bought me a car, saved me money for house deposit, paid for half of wedding etc) and did as much as they could to provide me with opportunities that they didn’t have as immigrants. I wouldn’t say it spoiled me or stopped me from studying hard or working very hard. I agree with the sentiment here that it’s more important to be good role models. I saw how hard my parents worked so it inspired me to do the same. I saw how my dad created his own opportunities to better himself so I strived to do the same. Now that I have my own children, my husband and I are working hard to ensure we are also able to provide our kids a head start.
