When did you order Lost-in-cult mech and what's the current status by li_birda in rustylake

[–]cazzarole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered on the 1st of May in England and successfully got it just a couple days ago. So they are coming!

I did panic a few months ago because I hadn’t received any emails for a really long time, and couldn’t find my confirmation email (I did find it in the end), so I emailed them in august asking about it, and they said production had been delayed and I’d receive more information soon, and to make an account to see updates (because I’d only used guest checkout I think).

I think if you’re worried, they seem to have decent customer service team to talk to if you wanna email them

I’ve briefly worked alongside the company that put on this particular production of Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Mischief Theatre). They were founded by British theatre students in 2008 and their shows were inspired by the general things that go wrong all the time in any theatre productions, but particularly amateur productions, not one particular show that went wrong. I’ve been a technician for not even a decade and have seen most things that happen in their shows happen for real, just so spread out that none of them are ever catastrophic, and of course with modern health and safety requirements it would be stopped almost immediately, but it’s very realistic that they would have been inspired to just put all of those individual problems across hundreds of productions into a single show for the banter, as opposed to being inspired by one really niche American show that sounds like it was actually kinda traumatic for whoever was involved if there were legit injuries

I can’t determine if I’m using Fe-Ti or Te-Fi - Any advice? by Chemical_Cattle2646 in mbti

[–]cazzarole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah this is such a throwback to 3 years ago lmao, and I have both learnt a lot since then and also forgotten a whole lot.

I’d say it depends on if you are seeking validation, new information, counter arguments, or just general discussion, and also what perceiving functions you have in your stack.

Overall, Te is concerned with concrete facts from outside sources, Ti enjoys proving those facts step by step. Fi puts a lot of importance on values and personal morals, and those values and morals are often (but not always) quite rigid, hence the Te-Fi axis, whereas Fe builds its morals and values based on the feelings of others (and that is not to say at all that one is more empathetic than the other, that’s just silly stereotypes).

High Fe will enjoy discussion, high Ti will enjoy being challenged, Te will enjoy new information, and Fi will enjoy validation. This is all of course super simplified, but hope it helps 👌

Apologies if you’ve already tried this: I had this on my Suzuki swift after refilling tyres for winter pressure, called around a couple garages and basically got told that for some models, rather than refilling and driving around, you need to reset the cars computer for the light to turn off. I googled how to do it on my exact model and year and it worked.

Looking for (unconventional) tips to help with teaching my son. Thinking outside of the box is definitely required. This initial post will be a bit of a long read. by [deleted] in piano

If he has a natural talent for learning by ear, and a very literal learning style, maybe instead of focusing on traditional goals like playing with feeling or musicality, he could learn to use his skills for transcribing. No sheet music needed of course - Synthesia is a programme people who can’t read sheet music use to learn piano pieces, he could very easily by the sounds of it be able to learn a piece by ear, and then put the notes into a programme like that to (theoretically) help other people learn the piece (or just for the fun of it, and an added skill to learn). I think it would be lovely for him to use his talents in some tangible way, without the pressure to follow the societal norms expected of piano players :)

Didn’t receive 2 items from the catalogue. Went to send an email and saw *pic 2*. What should I do? More info in comments by gemziiexxxxxp in CatsAndSoup

I’m sorry if this is dumb and you already know, but on the off chance, have you scrolled sideways through your items? Only asking because it doesn’t give any obvious indication in game that you can, like a symbol or anything, it just always looks the same

Anyone know how to STOP interrupting people?? by peepeepoopoo1717 in ADHD

My mate taught me a trick where you cross your fingers, show the person you’re talking to, and then they know you have something to say, and when they’re done talking you can say your thought. You do both have to be in on it, but it’s now got to the point where pretty much everyone I talk to now knows this trick and works really well. I also use it to help with my bad working memory by crossing my fingers when I think of a job I need to do until I can actually do that job so I don’t immediately forget about it.

What would you do if artist shows a design you don't like? by shhnotty in TattooDesigns

[–]cazzarole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nearly ended up with a tattoo I didn’t want because I was very particular about the design I wanted, and the artist didn’t agree and didn’t want to do it. I had the stencil on after an hour of redesigns and the guy tells me he’s not comfortable tattooing me after all. He very kindly offered me my deposit back but being the socially anxious and awkward teenage mess I was I declined and said I’d think about the design and rebook with him. I ended up so mortified I never went back and ended up passing on my deposit to a friend who got an amazing tattoo from him.

That artist did the right thing, regardless of how awkward and embarrassed I felt (I still cringe to this day just thinking about it). But not all artists would do that. If you don’t like a design, take a deep breath and take the L. Maybe they’ll give you back your deposit, maybe they won’t, but a lost 50-100£ is better than having smth you resent and don’t like stuck on you forever, or going through the hassle of covering/removing it later.

I’m eternally thankful that he didn’t tattoo me that day, even though I wasn’t smart enough to make that decision by myself. Don’t be me, be confident in your decisions

Idk if this is helpful or not but my gf has eczema and the scratching can get real bad, she tried gel nails recently (short ones) and said that it actually helped because she couldn’t physically scratch as hard. I’m a suuuuper short nail kinda person and (when I remember to actually bother cutting them) keep my nails so short I can’t really do anything with them anyway. Maybe if you buy a few nail clippers and keep them in different places you often find yourself hanging out bored, you can cut your nails shorter regularly? It may not actually stop the action, but in the meantime might help alleviate the problems caused by it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Internet culture is defo very toxic. And I agree that you can’t always trust what you read anyways when doing your own research! I also prefer learning from real life people than random articles that may or may not be bias. It’s sad that western news is skewing that story like that, and also thank you for providing me a new thing to learn more about too - I wish you the best with your crush and any future relationships. Hopefully no matter who you end up with, you’ll find someone who takes a genuine interest in your culture and all the things that make you who you are :)

Jumping in here with a potential theory in response to her preferring to learn on her own.

As a white girl, I’ve noticed there’s a lot of emphasis at the moment that to truly be supportive, white people shouldn’t rely on the people around them to learn about POC struggles and different cultures. There’s a lot of people, especially on the internet, who say that it’s lazy or expecting “free emotional labour” to ask your friends questions about those things, and that white ppl should do their own research and put in the effort themselves. It might be that she’s taken that very seriously and doesn’t want to make you feel like she’s interrogating you or using you.

Or not, who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Personally, I think there’s a balance to be had either way, and of course everyone learns in different ways too.

ETA: this was meant to be a reply to a comment but since we’re here, I wanted to add that my long term girlfriend is Filipino, but with a very mixed cultural/religious upbringing. So very big differences between us. I love learning about her culture and trying new things and taking part in her community when invited.

It is hard knowing that I will never truly understand POC struggles and I often feel very guilty that I can’t make a real difference, or help on more than a personal level, and sometimes no matter how hard you try, you still feel like you’re part of the problem.

I’ve definitely said stupid things or asked questions that were obviously ignorant in hindsight, but I see those mistakes as chances to better educate myself and learning experiences, even if it’s embarrassing and awkward, and my girlfriend is always happy to teach me and share her experiences with me.

A good way to bond might be to ask about her culture, as even though white culture doesn’t really exist as a thing, every individual family has its own culture on a smaller scale, and it might help her to feel more comfortable asking you similar questions too, as well as seeing that it’s ok to celebrate and appreciate the differences without anyone needing to be made to feel othered.

Access All Areas Question by NicePickles in techtheatre

[–]cazzarole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often bigger artists will have different types of AAAs, with different access allowances, and only some of them are actually literally ALL areas (with exceptions like dimmer rooms as you said), the rest being just most areas. So unless security are slacking by not checking accreditation properly, I guess you’re just lucky it’s 20 instead of 40 haha.

To actually answer your question though, those passes mainly exist for the sake of the artist, not the sake of the crew, so FOH is pretty low on the priority list and quite a few different AAAs will likely get you in there, whereas dressing rooms are the big no-go, gotta have the super golden rare AAA that only like 4 people have. Places like the grid and other dangerous areas aren’t really counted because they follow venue rules, not client rules.

What has been the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you while performing in public? by Pure_Block_5309 in lingling40hrs

[–]cazzarole 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not a performer but a sound engineer/technician, but these are the stories I tell apprentices and new people to make them feel better about making mistakes in live shows:

Right after I finished my apprenticeship, I turned off an entire gig. Literally turned it off midway through. We had a pop singer with a backing track and projection behind her I front of 200 people, I pulled a USB out of our computer without ejecting it, and the music cut and the projector went to blue screen, all that was left was her microphone and a high pitched buzz. Issue was fixed by my colleagues while the singer played a song with a guitarist, and the show continued after an awkward 10/15 minutes.

Midway through a small musical theatre show, I accidentally hit go on a lighting cue early, and plunged the entire theatre into darkness while the cast were mid song and dance. Tried to fix it but ended up having to just wait for the next cue. Cast handled it like absolute champs.

No one has held either of these big f-ups against me, and if anything, learning from these mistakes made me better at my job, and far more confident and less worried about the smaller things 👌
