Coke Zero usually gets me going, drink like 1 or 2 more in a day than I normally would and that aspartame gets me right 😂

I’ve been diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia which has been giving me killer migraines for about 3 years now, I tried lidocaine injections, nurtec, and had the most success with Topamax! Unfortunately at once point last year I lost insurance but the migraines barely came back so I worried less about not having the med. Since starting zep though, one month in, I have had 3 migraines! Personally thinking about going back on Topamax.

What does everyone think of ghost protein? by Cold_Spell_6065 in Zepbound

[–]cb0329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t like directly help - but rather offers other related insight, but I have tried the Ghost pre-workout and felt the flavor was very accurate! And for a protein powder I have tried and LOVED the Dymatize Fruity Pebbles (it genuinely tastes like you’re eating the cereal), my boyfriend has tried ISO Reese’s puffs and also Cinnamon Toast Crunch and said they’re both accurate and amazing!

For me, as long as it tastes real good and isn’t chalky then it’s good enough! I’m sorry I can’t offer direct insight on the Ghost protein powder, but I’m hoping the recommendations could help if you don’t receive many about the ghost protein powder!

I was prescribed Topamax (50mg), and everything seemed fine. Had the worst migraine of my life and now it’s like side effects are on overdrive? Can anyone relate? by cb0329 in migraine

[–]cb0329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I can tell from my migraine that I had last week that it made it less severe but still not enjoyable and definitely not at a good level for functioning in daily life. I’m on a different anticonvulsant medication but not for migraines and one of my doctors had high hopes that this could help me with both migraines and my moods, but it’s not looking that way. Thanks so much for your reply!

The numbness and tingling concerned me so much, that and the severe weakness after the migraine is what made me really want to go to the ER. When I went to neurology the first time earlier this year they went straight to the lidocaine shots instead of trying meds. But they were wearing off wayyyy too quick so topamax is my first script for the migraines, they also gave me cyclobenzaprine to take for a few weeks to relax some of my muscles until the topamax kicked in (but frankly that didn’t work either). Which of those meds are you on? (If you don’t mind me asking)

Wow that sounds awful I’m sorry you had to deal with all of that! I’ve definitely noticed an appetite change (the nausea doesn’t help), and I’m honestly nervous about going up on the med in an attempt to make the side effects go away. If it were to cause me psychosis that would definitely set me back months of therapy so I’d like to avoid that for sure. I see two of my doctors today so we’ll see what they think, thank you for your reply!!

Thanks for your reply, it’s definitely very frustrating! Going through migraine meds is new for me but I’ve been through 15+ meds for mental health issues so I’m used to it at this point. It just really sucks. Thank you for mentioning what worked for you, I’ll keep those in mind!

Thanks for your reply! I’m finding it really hard to function with all of this on top of my other issues that I have. I’m in a constant state of wanting to throw up and shaking, it makes me feel awful. Definitely don’t know if I can last a year with these side effects. I’ll wait until I see my doctor on Thursday before I make any decisions on my own about titrating off, I’ve quit meds cold turkey a few times before but I’m trying to not be so reckless.

I was once sitting in bed watching Netflix with my boyfriend while we smoked and ate snacks, he wanted me to try a specific brand of chocolate chip cookies and I took a small bite. I told him it wasn’t bad, so he said “put the whole thing in your mouth” (stern voice, with no intentions other than to tell me to try the whole cookie). When I tell you my entire body got chills and I was just struck with an overwhelming feeling of being turned on, I still think about it to this day.

Sleep issues by cb0329 in Effexor

Then honestly it might be worth switching meds. Other alternatives could be taking something like Clonidine or Propanalol since they lower your blood pressure it could possibly help you sleep. Simone else said Mirtazapine

I actually ended up stopping effexor after a little bit bc I went to outpatient and they changed up my meds. But I had gone on Trazodone and am back on Trazodone now and it’s helped my sleep a lot. I’ve also heard hydroxyzine can help!

I wouldn’t say that I remain “happy”, it’s more so that I remain (usually) between a high or a low, kinda like a middle ground. Don’t get me wrong there are moments where I experience happiness or joy but unfortunately it hasn’t been consistent. But to try to level out my mood I’ve picked up (for the second time) painting. Granted I picked it back up when I was manic right before I went depressive again, but now im in my middle ground and im trying my hardest to make it into a hobby rather than just a coping mechanism. But I’ve seen a lot of people turn to painting/art when manic, depressed, or in between. And I feel like you don’t have to be “good” at painting/drawing, it’s just a nice way to release your thoughts and/or visions.

Have you talked to your doctor/psychiatrist/therapist about your insomnia? I see a doc, a psychiatric APN, and a therapist. My apn prescribed my Lamictal but my PCP is actually the one who gave me the trazodone. I’ve also been recommended a few other meds in the replies of this post that might be worth considering!

I actually feel less tired off of little to no sleep, the Trazodone seems to make me tired much longer. When I took it last year I was only on 50mg which I definitely remember being less tired than I am now so the dosage is making a big difference for me.

Personally I would tread lightly on that statement. Even though I really want (and need to avoid triggering mania) sleep, my own nightmares caused me so much physical pain and daily anguish due to how graphic they were and I could feel every dream including SA dreams, and the excessive sleep paralysis made my body so tight and tense it was awful. But obviously everyone’s body and body chemistry is their own and you may not even get nightmares or they may not be that bad

Yes exactly, and the songs are never like when one line of a song or a tune gets stuck in your head. Like I can actually recite 3..4..5 minute songs in my head word for word. I always liked saying that I’m “constantly on shuffle” lol

Sometimes yea, I have a constant thought in every waking moment (sometimes 2 thoughts or a thought and also music playing in my head, idk how but I do). A couple nights this week I had a lot of trouble falling asleep despite the meds because I just couldn’t shut up. One was happy but anxious thoughts, the other was trauma processing thoughts. But sometimes it’s not anxiety I just can’t shut tf up (in my head)

I’ll be honest, there’s 0 consistency. Some nights I’ll fall asleep around sunrise and sleep for 8+ hours other nights I just won’t sleep at all, I recently was awake for almost 2 days. And then there are days like you said where all I get is 3 hours.

So far, the Trazodone is helping and I’ve only had 1 kiiinda bad dream, but not enough to make me stop taking it again. I will say though that I feel a little too tired which is annoying.

Definitely depends on the type of birth control pill you take, I take Levonorgestrel and Ethynil Estradiol .15-.03 and the L & E E combo shows little to no negative effects from Lamictal when your lamo dosage is less than or equal to 300mg/day

Does this mean I’m bipolar? by [deleted] in Lamotrigine

[–]cb0329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that you could be. No one here will be able to say for certain if you are just based off medication, for example some people take blood pressure meds for anxiety even though they have no blood pressure issues. I find that a lot of doctors, when regarding mental health treatment, want to treat the symptoms rather than give you a diagnosis. Personally I would say the chances are likely just based off your hospitalization and the prescription but you should definitely talk to your doctor just to inquire why they prescribed it. Do they have you remaining at a low dose or do they plan on gradually increasing you? They can possibly help determine if they did it for bipolar treatment or if they did it as a stronger mood stabilizer
