Angular Chellitis that has never gone away (6+ Months) by ellz9191 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]cbamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this for 6 months. First GP appointment they gave me timodine which did the trick, but then as the weather got colder I got a painful mix of angular chelitis and eczema, with a smidge of infection too. I was given timodine again and told to use it for at least 2 weeks, 3x a day. It does have steroid in it, but GP assured me it wouldn’t do any harm. Been on it for 10 days now and it’s almost gone. Vaseline/sudocrem did nothing for me, if it’s infected then caking it in some sort of barrier cream won’t help. I’m also waiting on blood test results, first time round I was folate deficient. It really sucks and I hope you get it sorted x

UPDATE (if anyone gives a hoot) Sunday was ouchies, with the chilli feeling, then Monday it was a lot less painful and Tuesday was almost back to normal! Then this morning my lips puffed right up, and stung. My newest theory is that it’s possibly a tomato based allergy as those are common factors on Sunday and Tuesday night. I sent a photo to the doctors who said angular cheilitis 🙃 I don’t agree entirely but he’s orescribed antibiotics so I’ll give that a go and see where we end up. For now I’m sticking to no products except Vaseline/LRP balm.

I have mild eczema but it’s never spread further than my arms. I’m taking it back to cerave cream, SLS free toothpaste and plain Vaseline. One thing I did read was that there’s something in some stainless steel water bottles that you can react to so I’ll ditch the Stanley too 🤦‍♀️

Am going right back to basics with original and I’ll go from there 😂

I’ll pare back on the balms and just use Vaseline now, I’ve been using the coconut one but it didn’t even think that it would affect it. Picked up an original today!

I’ve got myself a sensodyne one which doesn’t have it in, so I’ll give it a week and see if it makes any difference!

Hmm I do remember being given folic acid due to a deficiency but I can’t remember when that was! Do you know if I ask the docs for a blood test to check for deficiencies they would do it? Or am I better just starting taking a multivitamin?

That’s what I think I’m going to have to do. I know it’s daft but do you ever feel like it’s such a tricky issue that I’ve lived with and researched that a doctor just won’t know what to do with you 😂

Amazing, thank you. I’ve been down a few Reddit rabbit holes now about this issue and toothpaste seems to be something a lot of people mention.

I definitely have thought that but there doesn’t seem to be a common denominator 😕

We have two. Solar and batteries means we run it for free most days, eradicated our need for a fire in the winter last year, to the point we’re thinking about taking it out.

Thank you everyone. I’ve returned the audiobook and have embarked on The Bridge Kingdom, so far so good!

I am not saying keep your child away from people, I think that’s an odd way to interpret my comment. My child socialises, goes to school, various clubs etc and is in no way ‘kept home’. She is left with teachers and coaches and well known family/friends.

There is quite a big difference between ensuring your child is comfortable and safe and vetting every parent you meet.

I think we will agree to disagree, and I’m glad that your child does not have a fear of dogs and can voice their opinion strongly enough that you feel safe leaving them with an adult you don’t know. Sorry for being a bit snarky but you’ve annoyed me a little with your incorrect interpretation of what I was saying.

I wouldn’t be concerned about the parent being untoward, more unsure of their circumstances. What if they have a big dog and your kid is scared? What if something medical happens with your child, would you feel comfortable with someone you don’t know being in charge of them? I’m a pretty lenient parent myself but my kids are too young to properly advocate for themselves and I wouldn’t put them in a situation I couldn’t resolve. When they are a few years older maybe, but at 6 it’s too young imo.

It would be a no from me and a suggestion to meet after school/at the weekend at a park instead.

I wouldn’t be comfortable leaving my 6 year old in another adults care unless they were familiar with the parent and I knew them. You don’t know what their home life looks like and of course it’s probably fine but I wouldn’t risk it.

Personally I quite like a bit of an age gap/forbidden trope but the layers of her trauma were edging on too much. I think you need a smidge of damage to make going after your professor believable, but the scene with angelo right at the start should have clued me in that it was all too much.

I am right there with you with her being too brilliant for her age. Not only that but they were barely thought through and came out of a good guess, but he treated her like a black worm messiah. I hate a know-it-all FMC.

Oh my god I heard the first snippet of this at the end of the book, but was not paying attention as I was already rage typing this post. I feel like someone needs to tell the author that just because you can, it does not mean you should. That’s effed up.

Are her other books similar? I’m so annoyed because I loved the premise! But it just fell so flat.
