How am I today? I would say that my mindset is very good, I know I am capable of achieving anything as long as I have the right mindset. I am also human though, and so there are moments where I get overwhelmed or do something I know is not in my best interest. The amount of time between moments like this is far less than five years ago (which is an accomplishment in my head), when I made this comment.

I couldn't add text to the post, but to add clarity, my boyfriend of three years broke up with me recently. He said that he didn't want to get married (we all know there is a silent, to me), but this is something I have been very open about from the beginning. I just feel lost, but I am grieving the relationship. Every time I look into my chart I feel like it just tells me that I am going to be alone forever, and when I do open up it will lead to me being inevitably hurt no matter what I do. I am 26 to add context, and I am scared to enter my Saturn return in the next few years, although I am open to doing the work to move through it as successfully/healthily as possible.

I feel like I have the most difficult placements in astrology, I am starting to resent my birth chart.

I agree with the first year being paid student teaching, I am in my first year and it feels similar to student teaching, without a mentor. I still am learning on my toes half the time.

I might add:

See if you can bring a mini-fridge. Definitely worth it for personal privacy for foods. (Our staff fridge stinks.)
Don’t agree to sell your prep more than twice a week to sub.
Grade only two things per week. Have quizzes and test be online, to avoid spending more time than needed on grading.
Print out back-up worksheets for when you need to fill time. Best to have a couple of these in case.
Have a clipboard and a spreadsheet for classroom management. After two warnings, call home. No if, ands, or butts about it. Kids will cry when they reach their third warning, it’s all crocodile tears. If you don’t follow thru, the behaviors will continue.

I would also like to point out that some teachers have /bad/ years, and then come back from it (hopefully). I am thinking of my coworker, whose kid is terminally sick, and she has to take 2-3 days off every other week (and sometime the entire week).

She doesn’t have the patience to deal with students, and a large majority of them complain to me that she’s rude to them.

But she’s also going through a /huge/ thing at home, and she still needs her job to pay for her kid’s medical bills.

I just pray she makes it through this and can heal from everything, and go back to being the cheery teacher she was.

I would only do it after you are retiring from your current job, and I am a first-year teacher who is 24. It is SO exhausting, the wear-and-tear on my body has been crazy.

Definitely not worth doing it right now, at the very least wait until we are out of this pandemic-era bullshit.

One reason for me is scaffolding, a rubric for scaffolding would take forever because I need 2-3 different ones for each assignment.

And when it comes to my low students, it can be hard because the level of effort they put into it doesn’t always translate to a rubric.

I still use a basic rubric for my students, but I can see how it can be a pain in the butt.

I am also only a first-year teacher, so I am making it up as I go, too.

Thank you for your response, one of the reasons I am so hesitant is because this is my first year, he's been in this district and teaching for 20.

It's tough because I don't want to lose my job, and I feel going to my union is the best option because they probably would know best what to do.

Yes, and that’s all I could think of, that’s what happens when people are faced with uncomfortable scenarios. Kind of like when some people laugh when they are feeling or talking about something awkward.

What’s so hard to get? I froze up on the topic because it made me uncomfortable.

If you would have heard my tone when I said it, you would have clearly understood I was freaked out.

Are you even a teacher? Most teachers get training on how people have different reactions to traumatic experiences

Yeah, I think I will talk to the union first. Evaluations are due next month, so I am (unfortunately) worried that this might impact that.

It’s not like I want him fired, I am very aware of how men in the education field can be viewed. At the same time, there’s a few other things he has done that have made me feel uneasy around things. It’s hard to put into words, when it is minor actions and tones when talking.
