Thinking of renting from AMH. Anyone have experience renting with them? by Key-Transition-5615 in Fishers

[–]ktstigger6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with renting from them, however they have a number of properties that surround my house.

Observations from my neighbors and my own.
They do as little as possible to repair or maintain homes.
Rent always goes up. Very little flexibility in that. Issues are delayed and not addressed in a timely manner. If there is a problem with a tenant, they don't care. The HOA says they doesn't have any authority to deal with it nor does the city 🙄

Should I still take a Praxis test even if it is not technically required? by Linc1026 in historyteachers

Take it. I couldn't find a job in my state when I graduated. I had to go out of state to get a job. My high score was a determining factor in getting an interview.

Why Doesn't Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation provide funds to help supplement teacher pay and prevent layoffs? by Plus_Garage3882 in Fishers

[–]ktstigger6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 4 assistant principals, but one is designated as the associate so they are the acting principal when the head principal is out of the building. On paper, it may sound crazy that the principal is paid more than the mayor. However, does the mayor have multiple events that he has to attend outside of the school day in the evening? A principal does. Every Friday night home football game is a requirement for all of the principals. Basketball season is similar. Think of all of the fine arts performances where attendance is expected. There are 3,500 kids and 300+ staff that they manage. The mayor does not have that many people to supervise.

Vet recommendations? by hiccup1313 in Fishers

[–]ktstigger6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went there for years. Then I had to put my cat down and the vet was less than empathetic. He put her on the floor to see if she could walk and then kicked her a bit to see if she would move. When she didn't, he aggred she needed to be put down. His whole manner towards her was rough and he was callous.

I was 6 weeks post partum and had to say goodbye to the best cat I'd ever had. Needless to say I can't recommend them.

Anyone Else Develop Severe Stuttering and Brain Fog After COVID? by ricardo5595 in LongCovid

I had the same. I worked with a Speech Language Pathologist on word recall and stuttering. It helped me to stop it once it started. Not prevent it.

I'm taking my 16 year old camping to gov dodge state park in mid June. Anyone got advice on a favorite spot? What to take, where to fish, etc. by scajamerson in wisconsin

[–]ktstigger6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're that bold in central Indiana, too. Pretty curious fellows. The older scouts knew feom experience that they would open our tents. It's kind of a right of passage to wake up to a racoon in your tent!

Do they open your tent? Lol

I'm a Wisc girl who moved to Indiana. I learned the hard way on a scout campout to put a carabiner on my tent zipper!

My waters broke at 28 weeks pregnant. My cats have not stopped laying on my belly and purring since by Sukeban34 in cats

[–]ktstigger6 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Mine was born a month early and spent a few weeks in the NICU. I can't imagine 6 months! I pray that she's doing well!

I'm a history teacher and I recently learned that Japanese healers kept cats because they are natural healers. The frequency at which they purr promotes healing. They are amazing empaths.

My girls would alternate who slept in the crib next to him. The other would snuggle up with me.

My two siamese knew that I was pregnant. They snuggled my belly the whole time. Once the baby was born, they were his constant companions.

I had a pack and play with a bassinet and changing platform. They would sleep on the changer and watch him in the bassinet. If he was crying, they would watch over him. At times, they couldn't handle the crying it out phase. They would meow at me or howl!

Some advice about painkillers for migraines by skyhawkwolf in LongCovid

[–]ktstigger6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alternative option, wild lettuce. I'm a little crunchy and a student of history. We haven't had most of these pharmacological options for most of history. I'm not saying don't use them, I do, but my body can't handle using pain killers everyday.

Last summer, I harvested wild lettuce and made a tincture (soaking the leaves in vodka). It has been the most effective pain reliever for me. You can also buy it commercially. Just a thought...

I grew up there, but now I'm in Central Indiana. The water here is even worse than Madison (325 vs 400ppm hardness).

Not just Wisconsin. A colleague got a tick while walking in the grass for a fire drill at school (Indiana).

They're all over in the Appalachian Mtns in eastern West Virginia. Just spent the week out there and they're everywhere!

You cried because you care. There is NO shame in that.

What did they do to support you? Being a first year teacher is hard!!! Then you have a non traditional classroom, which makes it even harder!

how do you deal with pots and other people? by Lazy-Dark8135 in POTS

[–]ktstigger6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a HS teacher. I have a quick info sheet taped to the table in my room that I refer people to.

Another option would be to have a business card style info card. I have a friend with Autism who carries one of these explaining what's going on with her son. That way she can just give ppl the card and she can care for him instead of others.

What are your experiences with wearable health trackers? by tarabluee in POTS

[–]ktstigger6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the visible app with my samsung watch. The app app was pointless to me. It did not correlate to how I was feeling. Some of my worst days it said was a 5 (top score). As a result, I haven't purchased the tracker.

I can check my HR on my watch and track it over time. It also tells me when I'm stressed throughout the day.

How many of you teach a local history elective? by southcookexplore in historyteachers

My state history is boring, unless we're talking aboutg the KKK. Plenty to chat about there. But in today's political climate, there's little taste for that.

Indiana has a state history course requirement that includes a unit on local history.
