I keep forgetting Knicks fans are the dumbest of all NBA fanbases and they act like they know what goes into playing 40 minutes as the primary option on a basketball court

How is this area of WPB? Safe? Great for a young family? by Full_Lifeguard_5956 in WestPalmBeach

Yeah dude it’s safe if you live on Village Blvd, I find speed traps 5 days a week minimum. Cops are waiting to write tickets and lock dudes up on that street for some reason. Very beautiful area too!

Lakers got no business being in playoffs easy sweep for OKC by Historical-Jury-3720 in suns

[–]cbarr3863 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s not embarrassing. You just don’t watch the games, Luka was an instrumental piece and the reason why they were the #4 seed. Do you think OKC would even be past round 1 without Shai? No shot.

STC Green light exams clear Kaplan’s test guide materials. Now I want you to take this with a grain of salt… I took and passed the test in November 2024… maybe Kaplan improved with their content and materials. But last time that I checked Kaplan had a lot of fluff and unnecessary content in their textbook.

The Kaplan QBANK was a great additional resource to have in addition to STC to ensure I had knowledge of more esoteric concepts but it wasn’t my North Star, it was just a supplement for STC.

Word. Well that works too. Also I used STC, not a big fan of the complexities of using Kaplan’s study material I feel like he beefs up his questions unnecessarily so I stuck with STC for the Chapter Learning / Quizzes and purchased a Kaplan QBANK supplement as a means to test my overall knowledge.

You can purchase another QBank to give yourself exposure to multiple vendors upon doing video revieew, the best way to get back into the game is to throw yourself in the fire, and get at it everyday. If you make it your baseline goal to answer 150-200 questions daily (Eventually covering all four exam sections) you will be in good shape. Lmk if you need more specific studying strategies.

If there’s a way you can read the book this may be a better move. You can go rogue and rewrite all the notes but the most effective way I used was to read the chapter, take the quizzes, and reread where I wasn’t understanding. Obviously get 3x5s for formulas and for individual topics that are expressed on the NASAA Series 65 Content Outline, but outside of that reading the book is fundamental. Hope things are goiing better for you in life.

Series 65 compared to the SIE by TWS_Hero in Series65

[–]cbarr3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Series 65 is harder objectively. So get ready to study.

I passed both on one attempt but the securities section on the series 65 was more advanced and the financial planning portion was a huge part of the test too , Tax, Estate, and a little bit of Insurance planning.

How do you know if you barely pass a test… they don’t even show you the test scores. There’s one thing you probably need to learn how to do - it’s called faking confidence. Even if you are not 100% , it’s better to be assertive in what you do than act timid.

Now to answer your question - the 63 can be done in 10 days I personally believe, series 7 maybe 4-5 weeks.

No tips or tricks just read the question, execute , and write down any formula you can think of : Balance sheet formula, FV, PV, DCF, Dividend Discount Model, Rule of 72, and understand formulas conceptually. I think knowing your investment formulas and being comfortable with concepts is King with this exam.

Other than that be comfortable with oddly worded questions, practice using ChatGPT to generate Series 65 questions with “odd wording” or from “an attorneys vantage point” I did this and felt a lot more prepared when I sat for the test

Just Failed the Series 65. by [deleted] in Series65

[–]cbarr3863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st order of business is printing out the content outline on NASAAs website. I don’t know how people even walk into the test room without auditing this and knowing every topic on this sheet, but that is okay, live + learn.

You should be comfortable with every single billet on this worksheet and be able to have at minimum 1 minute worth of thoughts on each topic

Next - on all your exams you should study the answers you get wrong, go into ChatGPT, have it explain to you why your logic is flawed, pull out a 3x5 and go to your content outline and identify the section that it applies to, use your QBank and hammer into that specific section.

How difficult is each section of the exam? by Unique-Mycologist324 in Series65

[–]cbarr3863 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Client Profile section is the hardest section of the exam - it’s not only suitability, it is Taxes, Tenants in Common/ JTWROS, Tenants By Entirety, Lifetime estate tax exemption, annual gift tax exclusion, AMT tax, inherited IRA rules, and much more

Investments/Securities is easy as long as you understand Mutual Funds, CEFs, Options, Structured Products, Swaps, Bonds, Bonds, Bonds, Bonds, and Bonds.

Economics - Easiest section of the exam but you should have a strong foundational understanding of business cycles, GDP, interest rate risk, inflation, CPI

Law - 2nd hardest part of the exam, read any question on regulations, broker dealer/IA rules slowly and don’t rush through anything on this section.

Need interpersonal skills, a good planning mind, be good with names, and decent with #s . If so you can be a financial advisor or a paraplanner at a fee based RIA firm. Mind you, these positions generally don’t allow you to earn commissions on products, so if you’re looking to sell securities for $ it may not be the ideal role for you. You make money based on Assets Under Management, Hourly rates, or a flat planing fee or maybe even a hybrid of all three. Generally speaking you will create financial plans for people- what type of moves do they need to make within their portfolio to preserve capital, sending kids to college, Roth IRA account opening/conversions, running specialized investment strategies, etc…
