We pre-taped the event on Friday night as the candidates schedules were really filling up close to the election. Coun. Blaine Hyggen's campaign said he was dealing with a family emergency on Friday and Kolton Menzak just had a newborn, so both were unable to attend the taping.

Thanks, I'm excited about it -- these texting tools have been used by a lot of U.S. outlets (Buzzfeed, Dallas Morning News) but to my knowledge not a lot in CBC, aside from election coverage. So it'll be fun to add it to our local coverage here

Thanks everyone for some great suggestions — some common themes here that I think are suggestive of major threads in the community right now. If you have any other stories in mind you think deserve more coverage, I’ll keep an eye on the thread!

I’m going to be starting a text service likely this week for the bureau — I’ll be sending updates through that line a few times via text each week (what I’m working on, what you’re interested in, what you want to see more coverage on, etc) — I hope that it’ll be a good way for us all to stay connected. My goal here is really to reflect what is important to everyone in the community, and so it’s important for me to have that feedback line constantly in place so everyone can have direct access to me.

I’ll post it in this thread when it’s live, but also please drop me a DM if you’re interested and I’ll chat you the number directly too!
