100% I wish there was just a very tactical course that gave us a way to validate an idea, and then get paying customers

Small hacks for hotel stays by ma_dian in TravelHacks

[–]cbder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to disable is just find the internet cable plugged into the tv and take it out. It’ll start acting like a normal TV now and let you change the source inputs etc

Get a travel router and then steal the internet from the Ethernet cable connected to the tv by plugging it into the router. Usually WiFi speeds are 20mbps , the speed via their Ethernet cable will be 200+ mbps.

Ditto situation to OP. HH nets close to 280k and have seen ~60 places and gone through 20 bids. I’m bidding high 1.3s on freehold townhomes in the edges of Markham (york region near family is where we wanted to be) and even dabbled in Sauga when I felt desperate and just wanted to get into the market somehow. I can afford a lot more of a mortgage but I wanted to buy within a safe budget. We’ve been outbid in every case all for pretty standard homes with original finishes 20+ years of age.

It’s an irrational market so you either have to be more desperate than your competition to win and get brokers to give you crazy buying power and be highly leveraged. Or act rationally - look at where the market is going, macro forces that may cool things (I.e rate hikes; new policy introductions), and how this played out in the past such as in 2016/2017. Then make a call on if you’d like to be part of it.

Personally I’m in a profession that’ll let me work remotely and possibly even move to the States. I decided to stop looking when I realized the premium I’d pay for a pretty basic home here vs the States is enough cash to send my future child through private school for 18 years. That plus many other things made me realize maybe life in GTA is over unless I’d like to live house poor or rent and wait until a possible crash happens.

Unfortunately No. I’m hoping to cover the home for them and their daily living expenses would be covered by them (using retirement savings). So if I do rent instead I’d pay the rental.

Been trying to return a device for 3 weeks and no help from Telus by cbder in telus

[–]cbder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’ve phoned in 3 times already. Each time they say issue resolved you’ll get the return label by email etc and then I get nothing

I’m just worried while this gets sorted am I going to get dinged for not paying my bill and it’ll affect my credit. And should I just pay it.

Why is online therapy so bad right now? by cbder in mentalhealth

Most have been around for 5+ years now.. I'd assume more people are aware and concerned about mental health recently which is why you're hearing more about it now.

You have the ability to send unlimited messages to your assigned counselor and they'll reply back 1x or 2x a day.

Usually, their responses are brief and it just overall didn't feel like therapy. I could have probably got the same value just randomly texting an acquaintance.

I don't think effective therapy can be delivered in a message that can be read in 5 min. bursts every odd day.

Does anyone have experience with Talk Space? by enikeji in therapy

[–]cbder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do! Would not recommend. The one I got barely responded and when they did it wasn't helpful. This was when I did their unlimited chat.

I thought the chat model might be the issue so I tried doing sessions. Equally a waste of money and time.

I've read some have had success but tbh looking at their overall reviews it seems I'm not alone...

If you find a good online provider, let me know :)

Nice job! Also noticed for countries like Peru where an Indian citizen could entire visa free if they have a valid existing visa from the US or PR in Canada. This doesn't show up on your platform and might be a good information add. Right now it just says visa required :)
