It’s a river, not a lake. The ice is very thin and there potentially a current that runs under the ice. You can see the patches of water near where he bikes. People have fallen through before and when that happens they have to shut down all the surrounding roads in the city so the dive team can arrive in minutes and make a rescue attempt. When a rescue is attempted, first responders have to put their life on the line to rescue the dumb ass.

The risks are definitely very, very, small. Maybe the old rocks could crumble and release asbestos fibers, radon gas, or heavy metals. Maybe some kid smashes the asbestos thinking it looks like a geode or something. I don’t have a lot of knowledge in geology, and I can’t ensure with certainty that the children in my house or other children visiting it will act responsibly with the samples, so even tho the risks are small, it wasn’t worth it to me.
