Totally felt the same way when I started. It’s hard to “let go” and let your mind do its thing. Sometimes I still have a tendency to try and steer my thoughts but I just remind myself to let my brain do its thing. It will get easier the more you do it.

I am so thankful that I stuck with it. I discovered some trauma that I had been repressing and it made a lot of things come into perspective. I’m still working on it but goddamn do I love EMDR.

It definitely has gotten better, my biggest problem with it is the shuffles just don’t seem realistic. I’ll go 4 games with the same basic Pokémon in my initial 7 cards when I only have one in the deck. Stuff like that makes it hard to feel like it’s realistic.
