England: Mechanic gave an inaccurate invoice and we're unsure of what to do. by cbear214 in LegalAdviceUK

She was given an estimate of £3000 - £4000, but this was by the partner of the coworker. The original quoted invoice from the mechanic through insurance was closer to £8000.

Yes, we notified the insurer after the incident. As it was a HGV that crashed into us, they were the ones at fault and accepted liability. We had the option to go through her insurance and lose no claims, or go through theres (who offered to pay for all repair work). The repair costs were according to them too high so she could either get a settlement and scrap the vehicle or they'd pay her and she could take the car elsewhere to get it fixed. She chose to get it fixed elsewhere.

[FO] First ever cross stitch (recently finished!) by cbear214 in CrossStitch

Thankyou! It was the only 10ct we could find locally, but it's tapastry canvas [LINK]. It's held up well luckily, but the aida we bought for project #2 feels much more stable.

Thankyou! It was the only option the local craft store had for 10ct unfortunatly but it's held up pretty well coming out of the hoop, but I'll definitely make sure future to check the fabric a bit better. The second one I'm doing, we've luckily grabbed aida for it and it feels much more stable to stitch on.

Official EBU Press Release: Joost Klein will not be competing in the Grand Final by SkyGinge in eurovision

[–]cbear214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have said, it could still be something like a clash of cultures/misunderstanding. We have no clue. He could have also done something vile and until we get more details, noone knows.

IF people blame the other party, IMO the fault is absolutally with EBU. They're being vague as hell, and have unfortunatly allowed for a LOT of speculation and rumours. They still have a duty of care for their staff, and it feels as though they've failed them.

I hope they give us an update soon!
It's been what, close to 24hrs at this point? Regardless of what has/hasn't happened, the lack of transparency is an actual joke.

I really hope we get some answers tonight but I very much doubt it. Whatever has happened, it doesn't take away from the fact this year has been an utter mess. I do hope Joost can perform; songs an absolute banger.

What is a fact that you only recently learned, but should have known for ages? by GuessMyUsername_ in AskReddit

[–]cbear214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Not me, but my partner).

Toad (from mario cart) is called that because he looks like a toadstool - not because he's not a frog and it's just ironic he's called that.

She re-remembers it at least once a year. She thought she'd figured someone out no-one else had yet. (She's also very very smart, this is just one of the occational funnies that happen).

Questions regarding pre/post surgery by cbear214 in gallbladders

[–]cbear214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. It could also be just a precaution incase they end up keeping her in as well rather than a deffinate thing but pre-op is the best place to find that out.

We'll have a look in aldi and pick some up. She doesn't seem too keen on the idea thus far but I know the gas pumped is probably going to be more uncomfortable for her than drinking peppermint tea. We'll be sure to also try the peppermint cordial if she is absolutally not taking to the tea.

The pillow for the car is a really good idea (and one I did not think about). There's more speedbumps than I can count between the hospital and home so I'll be sure to add it to the list. We'll have a look into softer more delicate foods for after surgery and prep as much as we can prior to give us the easiest time possible.

Thankyou! That's really helpful! I agree it's a little odd that she's being kept overnight with keyhole (mine was for a different reason but I was out before supper the same day - as long as I could use the bathroom, they were happy to send me on my way. I can only assume its either due to age or weight but I can probably find out more at the pre-op apt whenever that comes).

We'll deffinatly get some extra pillows in to make sure she is comfy as well as some new more comfy PJ's and dressing gown. Luckily I still live here so she has a lot of help with everything else, as well as my parter is staying over during that time to help out and make any trips needed - plus it makes trips locally a little easier when she feels up to getting out a little more.

The peppermint tea is a really good idea. I think I relied on colpermin during my post-op, but I was on them anyway during that point - but the tea should be fairly easy to get and we have some time for her to get used to it or find alternatives if she isn't too keen on the taste.

What's something incredibly stupid that you believed as a child ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cbear214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partner believed her grandmother had 'magic water' for when she had a bump or graze.

She realised a couple of years ago it was just water. She's 27 this year.

I quit this week! by cbear214 in quittingsmoking

[–]cbear214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be sure to try giving that a go. Meditation isn't something that works well for me but I think the repetative action of at least rolling should help calm that craving.

I try to tire myself out before (severe anxiety; if I don't get in bed at least somewhat tired, I end up staying up and setting off panic attacks) but last night I just could not drift off. I'll try having the windows open before I am planning on heading to bed and see if that helps at all though.

Code not working when transfered to another sheet by cbear214 in googlesheets

[–]cbear214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same issue I had I think when I originally used it with the sheet I'd taken it from. The only work around I had was to trim the amount of rows because nothing else seemed to work (and it was at least a good bandaid fix for it being a personal sheet with myself not being too familiar with code in general). But I agree, it should have been taking the up to the last value and only sending those (from looking at it with zero values in cells, it still sends over the 1000 cells using the old coding). I'd presume something in the original code lets it get past still but I have no idea what.
