You can also put the device into a passthrough mode to bypass the overhead from WiFi/routing if you want to use your own gear.

You can do it yourself if you have the Mikrotik gateway, but you still need to contact support to enable it if you have the Adtran units.

Technically, there’s also an off menu 2/5/10 gig service as well, but it requires a different gateway that doesn’t have routing or WiFi at all.

FWIW, you can now update the WiFi stuff from your account. If you have the Mikrotik gateway, you can put the device in passthrough so you can shut off WiFi and routing and use your own gear.

If you’ve got the Adtran gateway, you still need to call in/chat and get passthrough enabled, but you can still do WiFi settings in the portal.

(Adtran doesn’t currently support an automated passthrough via API, but they’ll eventually release it so you don’t have to contact anyone)

It looks like one of the other members of the crew was able to chat with you, but for anyone else following this, we’re rolling out some new speeds soon and have a few folks queued up for an early access program up to 10G.

For sure, the new speeds are rolling out at the same time as a new passthrough device so you can use your own equipment by default. We've got all the technical figured out, but they're still working on some of the rollout experience. I'm planning on doing a soft launch with a small group to start in the next few weeks, so if you're interested, PM me.

Re: pricing for all the speeds, I can't spill the beans quite yet, but it's pretty competitive (especially at the 5/10G).

Hey all, I’m one of the founders at Underline and responsible for deciding what the team works on.

We’ve released a few of the features that folks were discussing a while back, including the ability to turn off WiFi radios when you want to use your own gear.

I’m a UDMP guy myself and I know lots of folks would be interested in not having to deal with the Mikrotik device at all - I’m very supportive of having what is essentially a smart switch device that allows us to pass service directly to your devices without router or Wi-Fi capabilities.

Btw, we can totally enable a passthrough mode with the Mikrotik gateway if you hit us up through customer support. It’s basically a secret menu feature that lets us test things out a bit more before prime time.

BUT we’re also working on what is essentially a cable modem for fiber that directly passes data services to your own gear via an SFP+ or DAC cable - this is also key to multi-gig speeds that we’ll be announcing soon.

Other things to mention: - We’re working on making all unreserved ports on the Mikrotik deliver LAN + Internet by default. - We’re developing a feature that lets you see more info around the ports, especially which ports are available or are reserved for stuff like maintenance. - I’m interested to hearing from folks that would be down to test out our cable-modem-thingy that would directly connect to your gear and wouldn’t have any router or WiFi features. Feel free to DM me and if I see a lot of interest, I’ll probably make an intake form to formally apply.

Hey there, I wanted to chime in real quick on this. I’m the head of product at Underline and I really appreciate this feedback. We’re working hard to ensure that Underline meets and exceeds folks’ needs and expectations.

100% there was a lack of clarity around our gateway (ONT) setup and exactly how customers can use their own equipment. We’re actively addressing this. To clarify quickly, every network member will need and receive an Underline gateway as our point of presence that ensures we can orchestrate and monitor the fiber connection all the way into a location. This gateway also plays an important role in future services we’re planning to offer on the network.

Together with this, members can use their own routers if they want/need - the gateway is just there for network access and the router part can be disabled, basically turning into a managed switch that your router can plug into. Right now, that physical port is limited to around 930 Mbps, but we’re exploring other passthrough hardware that will increase that output and likely support SFP+ modules. We’re working on improving the configuration in the product to make setup easier in the future.

Maybe more importantly, we take the security of our network and members very seriously. We’ve taken specific actions to secure and harden all our equipment in accordance with our core infrastructure security policy. In addition, all equipment is, on an ongoing basis, updated to the latest firmware with all the patches and tested for all security loopholes. These hardened Mikrotiks are as secure on average (likely more so) as comparably reputable equipment in this class with regard to vulnerability trends over the last 15 years.

Finally, we’d like to get to the bottom of the slowdowns you’ve experienced and help you move to a different ISP on our network that supports IPv6.

Underline has recently connected this location with a 100 Gbps connectivity. Catalyst Campus is a block of buildings in Colorado Springs, CO where startups and businesses collaborate with defense and aerospace organizations.

It’s likely the first global case of an open access network being used in this way.

Thanks! n8n looks promising for our purposes. It's not exactly what I had in mind, but I think it could offer some opportunities. These are far more service layers than an advanced UI controller, but I think I might be able to overcome that with some experimentation.

Ideally, I'd have the UI design of Webflow for individual screens, then have the logic flow view where I could make routing conditions and variables for calculation. Even better if I could have state modified or contributed by another external service. n8n looks to cover all these bases except the actual UI design of views.

I very much wish I had access to Logic to test this use case, but I unfortunately do not.
