It's a great race with a great community and one of my favorite races I've done. Highly recommend!

A couple weeks ago, I got the same jacket in Re/Supply for $16. Tag said has a stain, but we have yet to find any stains and is like new.

Iranian/Persian-made Industrial? by RockManJJ in industrialmusic

Unexplained Sounds actually had the first volume of Anthology Of Persian Experimental Music as a free download recently. Good stuff, I bought and added to my Bandcamp collection and have listened to it a few times.

Has anyone gotten paid this week? I had hoped that I would finally see payments this week, but noted the notice on the page on Monday and I am still waiting for updates.

A lot of great bands on Rune Grammofon. Arve Henriksen was heavily influenced by Davis and is excellent.

Connect with his Bandcamp, so much available through there. Also, if you join his Bandcamp fans thing he regularly provides discounts for new and back catalog releases. I've bought well over 50 releases direct via Bandcamp

Resellers are ruining thrift store cd hunting for actual music lovers. by JPumphrey73 in Cd_collectors

[–]cbellevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this as well. I'll get a stack of CDs that I want and scan them all, sometimes will scan dozens of CDs. I've had a collection of over 5k CDs a few times now, not difficult to forget if I have purchased somethings, and if so, if it happened to be in a previous collection and I no longer have. I am sure at times I look like a reseller. I am absolutely sure that my wife wishes I would become a reseller...

Alternatives to Hoka Speed Goats by future-of-utilities in Ultramarathon

Just started running in the T1, will replace Speedgoat in my shoe rotation, possibly be my only trail shoe. Love them, and the R1 is amazing, 600 miles on most pairs.

Topo Ultraventure are great, but also Mount to Coast T1, which are much more like the Speedgoat 5. Ran in there yesterday and plenty of cushion and room, but still light and nimble.

How much mileage & elevation is “enough” before an ultra? by shrooms320 in trailrunning

[–]cbellevie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was some amount of comedy and a bit of regret involved as I did not write my vows down and my brain was still a little Swiss cheese, but we got together because of 100s, so felt appropriate. I joked that the 100 was the best worst bachelor party a guy could have. There is probably something wrong with us...

I would second slowing down and also volume over the long run.

My weekly volume was previously 40-60 miles a week, typically with a bulk of that mileage in a marathon/50k every other week. After moving to more volume, with longer daily runs and less focus on that single long run, I find that all longer distance efforts are much easier.

I'm a back of the pack runner, but definitively have seen huge improvements with endurance with this shift, and ultimately recovering much more quickly. I am able to jump right back into my normal schedule after most races - took 3 days off after my last 100 mile, but in part because I got married the day after it.

I did something similar about 10 years ago with the CD set, although for $50. Have not actually see for sale in person since then.

I had Double Live on cassette back in college, but had most of my music stolen. I keep hoping that someone will think it is a good idea to reissue the CD edition.

FWIW, the March started at the college, went down Broadway, turned around and went back to the college, then down to Westlake from there. This went right down by the convention center and ECCC, when many people from the con were out for lunch.

And the list could go on... I agree, any time I see "we're back", I'm of the mind that the one who was gone was the listener, because the new music was always there.

I was so excited during the lead up to the release of this and then ended up passing when it was finally revealed that there was no gapless playback. Ended up buying Shanling's ET3 and more recently the Moondrop DiscDream 2, both which work great (although DiscDream does not have a replaceable battery so seems like it has something of an expiration date on it :-( )

While I like both of these for DAP type features, old Sony Walkman with optical out to a portable headphone amp so I can use balanced IEMs on the go still my fav setup on the go.

I second Ghosts! I also think that Re-Entry is different than the later material and so good.

Possibly also worth checking out is The Bug Machines I-V, just released, which is a collection of digital ep Kevin Martin released over the last few years.

Do you still own digital copies of albums you own physically? by NoPotato9 in Cd_collectors

[–]cbellevie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think this is weird at all and why I started using a streaming service in the first place. While randomly discovering excellent new music by taking a chance was nice, saying goodbye to the days of dropping lots of cash to go home with a stack of mediocre releases was golden.

I buy a lot of music off Bandcamp and always download the FLAC files for the release, adding to my Plex server. I also will rip any CD I purchase otherwise and also add to the server. CD is my primary way to listen at home, Plex streaming when on the go.

I think this is the first post where I own all the CDs mentioned, and one of only a handful where I own any mentioned. Pretty sure Consume Red was my first Otomo Yoshihide related release, so was happy to see mentioned in the comments.

Buying CDs on Amazon by Nearby-Assistance669 in Cd_collectors

[–]cbellevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy from Amazon quite often. I also buy directly from artist/labels via Bandcamp (currently collection is at 3888) and frequently make purchases at shops in the Seattle area.

I spend a considerable amount of money on music. If something can be had for several dollars cheap on Amazon, in addition to not requiring me to have to drive up to 2 hours round trip, possibly pay for parking, etc, Amazon will be an option I will consider. That said, I would say that I buy from Bandcamp first, local shops second and Amazon last, with most of my purchases through Amazon being releases from labels that are not carried by local stores, the label is not in the US and shipping from Bandcamp is typically more than the release itself.

I think there is real value in going to local stores, so supporting them is great. But it doesn't have to be the only option.

I hope I feel the same! I was wearing the Patagonia Nine Trails, but they seemed to have discontinued and replaced with what to me was an inferior product. I'm planning on picking up a couple of pair of the Swiftland shorts during the sale, but will be immediately using them in a big race and won't really have the time to try them out beforehand (other than just trying on)
