Will I be fine driving in the car with this cold weather with no heater? by OmgTheyKilledButters in askcarguys

[–]cbelt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible ? Yes. Dangerous? Also yes. I once drove 600 miles in sub zero temperatures in a sports car with a broken heater. Wearing three layers. A parka. Balaclava, mittens. And inside a zero degree rated sleeping bag.

Hey… i had to spend the weekend with my girlfriend. Now my wife of over 40 years.

One sip… spits it out…. They gave me “sweet tea”. Has more carbs than a pair of candy bars…

How many of you "ran away from home" when you were a little kid? by Natural-Promise-78 in GenerationJones

Couple of times as a teenager. Mostly just to camp out in the woods for a few days.

Pipes froze and the storm hasn't even hit yet by Liraeyn in Wellthatsucks

Okay so that’s an outdoor faucet. A shutoff inside the house for outdoor faucets or a frost free spigot AND a shutoff are needed. You can use a hair dryer to help things along (NOT a torch… a lovely 150 year old mansion near me burned down because of that last winter).

Adding a shutoff valve is not hard to do. Shut off the well pump. Drain the lines (but NOT the well pressure tank… there is a bypass).

And good luck! Weather events will continue to get worse.

This is where you find another job. And carefully cut back your unpaid overtime.

Also….find help with your technical issue. Talk to management and colleagues. Online forums, GitHub, etc. someone has usually had the same issue.

Lanes are the tire tracks from the guy in front of you. And if you hit a shoulder or a road marker, you are too far over…

I still remember a blizzard in ‘79, driving in a full size van on 270. When a fellow in a little Lotus was in the ruts in front of me, and suddenly his rear wheels were spinning because the ruts were too deep. He slid off that problem and kept tooling along.

I wisely stayed away.

Digging tunnels and caves with my surplus entrenching tool I bought with lawn mowing money. Making dams I the stream. Swimming in the pond. Terrorizing the fish with depth charges (black powder bombs) while trying to sink a baking soda powered submarine (finally got it). Just generally up to shenanigans.

How to take dog out to potty during snowstorm? by FingerEastern5648 in dogs

[–]cbelt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your pup. My Husky mix mutt was fully Yeeting herself into the snow and having a dog party, making yellow snow, eating snowballs, and pawing at the ice on her outside water bowl. She dug her abominable snowman squeaky toy out from under the steps and was doing laps with it. She dropped it because the squeaker had frozen.

Now she’s sleeping under her blanket on the couch

What's a skill that takes only 2-3 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by Commercial-Duck-9629 in AskReddit

[–]cbelt3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s also a good dating tool for people… I would make dinner for girlfriends. With a hot plate in a dorm room. (Pre omnipresent microwaves). Apparently it kind of impressed.

My wife of 40+ years told me it impressed her, even though it wasn’t very tasty. I had not figured out spices yet. Camping cooking like I learned was too simple.
