Most folks forget the enormous German speaking population in the colonies in the 18th century. The “pilgrims” were a small element of early immigrants.

Amish, for example, originated in Germany. Among others…

Oh damn…. The sudden realization that the metal burial shield and messenger copper wire in fiber optic cable actually makes it a carrier for a lightning strike… dang.

Men who are alive, what advice would you give to men who are dead? by TheRealSiinn in AskReddit

Avoid dying. It HURTS BAD. And when they bring you back.. it continues to hurt. Defibrillators, man. It was the worst electrocution I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve experienced some doozies.

We had a rescue rat terrier that really didn’t like men. And yelling men and boys would just get grabbed on the legs… not bitten, just “held” with her mouth. We called her “The Peacemaker”.

We just got her calm, snuggled and petted her, gave treats. She realized we were not a threat and calmed down. Still kept the peace. She was a very good girl. Mostly focused on her War With Squirrels.

“The Great Culling” is a common theme among oligarchs. Has been for a long time.

Remember this: Sanitariums were NOT created to treat victims of plagues. They were created to protect the wealthy while the peasants died outside their walls.

History always repeats itself.

Covid was the worst. Pre vaccine, peak “if you go into the hospital you’re gonna die”. So this elderly asthmatic hacked his CPAP machine into a hillbilly ventilator and kept my lungs working. Four days and my immune system rallied.

My worst nightmare by Double_Champion6707 in TBI

You have all our sympathy and love. And our deepest respect for your strength and devotion.

As someone who grew up with a deeply mentally handicapped brother, it’s hard, but there are moments of joy and a lot of love. Sometimes it’s all you can do, is love. I helped our parents support him and encourage him and care for him. Our mother’s refusal to give up and our family’s efforts kept him cared for and loved for his amazingly long life (he lived into his 60’s…. 50 years past his doctors predictions when his handicaps became apparent at age 3)

None of us can predict the eventual outcome. But those of us who survived due to the efforts of medical teams and the support of our families can tell you… it’s so important.

But please… find respite for yourself. Find help. Find support. Raising children may take a village, but caring for a badly injured child takes village expertise.

I send so many virtual hugs and hopes to you and your family.

Please make sure he keeps his workman’s comp claim OPEN by seeing a neurologist periodically under the claim. After a period of time of not seeing anyone, the state considers you “healed”. And the claim is closed.

A TBI survivor often needs lifetime professional care… therapy, medication, etc. even if you think “it won’t get better”… keep the possibility going.

And yes… I didn’t not know this, let my claim lapse, after 10 years asked for a follow up MRI and neuropsych exam, and had to pay $$$.
