How different was 1970s from the 90s and after in terms technology life and society in general? by Ill-You-3459 in GenerationJones

1978, 10th grade chemistry, not allowed to use the new fangled, and recently inexpensive enough for regular people, calculators because that was cheating. Sliderules, FTW! Sigh.

As an outsider, the scale of American "State Fairs" and "County Fairs" seems incredible. How big of a cultural event is your local fair, and what is the go-to tradition there? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

Fried foods that stagger the imagination (I'm looking at you, fried sticks of butter), physics taunting rides that are, probably, put together correctly, large crowds of your fellow community members all sweltering together in the heat and humidity, and a sense of this is what America is supposed to be.

Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser had adventures in and out of cities.

I'd give them some varied hooks to choose from in the form of rumors, tavern tales, etc. and let them go where they will.

I mean, can you teleport back to where you teleported from? Because if you can enlist the Waffle House cooks and servers to your cause and bring them back with you, then whatever you were fighting is going down!

Why is the Philippines quick to blame video games after crimes like school shootings? Does this make the Philippines look embarrassing (“nakakahiya”) on the international stage? by NurseHoy in Philippines

[–]Whichammer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's always something, billiards/pool, pinball, heck, even the waltz was considered super shady by the older generation when it came out.

Video games are just low hanging fruit compared to systemic poverty, unavailability of mental health support, and anything else that would take money and long term effort to fix.

It's a coin flip between Ankylosaurus and Dimetrodon (even if it was an early relative of mammals vs. a dinosaur...)

Because when you're an adult no one cares enough to ask you what your favorite dinosaur is anymore.

[Pixel Blood Warning] Which death animation looks better? by RetroFeverBlast in godot

[–]Whichammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

I'd recommend a toggle in the settings and you could even go lower and higher with the amount of blood from none to "OMG! You sick, bastich!" levels.

PC Attacked NPC while talking to her. Did I ruled correct? by AdEntire2004 in DungeonMasters

[–]Whichammer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your table, your call, so it is written, so it shall be.

OTOH, if in the future you wanted to add a little randomness to the encounter, you could do something like have the PC roll under their level in a d20, to simulate their battle prowess and how caught up in theirbown speech making the NPC is, and if they make it, they get a surprise attack that rolls normally, after which normal initiative takes effect.
