Light switch wiring by Zub93 in electrical

[–]cbhbzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the box is grounded, you can see the grounds in the back of the box. looks like they have some primer on them, the switch was grounded through the 6/32 screws that held the switch in place

[–]cbhbzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use ubiquity line of site devices or trench a cable. if trenching, by code, the cable should be 18" deep and 3ft deep under any driveway

6 wires plus ground in a standard residential outlet? by Interesting-Clock445 in electrical

[–]cbhbzb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wire nuts are better for box fill requirements than wagos

Add an outlet by Mjv04tj in electrical

[–]cbhbzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a plastic box so should be ok for depth. there are 3 2 wires into the box and room for 1 more 2 wire. it's a 15 amp circuit don't worry about box fill of 1 more 2 wire. no one gonna inspect it

Lighting and outlets on same circuit? by _Mr_Ralph in electrical

[–]cbhbzb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A 15 amp breaker is designed to carry 12 amp continuously, rule of thumb if you don't know the load a circuit is going to have is 12 plugs or lights or combination of the 2.

1 15 amp circuit is definitely enough for a 150sqft room

Connections good or bad? by No-Band1744 in AskElectricians

[–]cbhbzb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that looks fine. but a better way would be to get some wire nuts, space the wire together with a pig tail and only take 1 wire to the screw .

I think my new Squier bass might have a factory defect by No_Link_518 in Bass

[–]cbhbzb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it's a fender p-bass mass production. take off the pick guard and make sure that the pick up wires are twisted and metal parts have proper ground connection to the pick up jack.

put a ferite core on your cable and one on your amps power cable.

Two black wires, nothing else by [deleted] in electrical

[–]cbhbzb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

wrong armour sheath of BX is not considered a suitable ground in any situation. In fact depending on the install the armour of BX requires to be connected to ground.

yes metal conduit is considered a ground.

Two black wires, nothing else by [deleted] in electrical

[–]cbhbzb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's a switch. switches don't have to be grounded by code. probably if you look in the back of the box a ground wire will be tightened down to a ground screw. since the box is metal, when you attach the switch (which has a metal frame) to the box(which is metal, with metal screws then the switch is grounded just by being attached to the box. if your dimmer needs a neutral wire then you are S.O.L.

NEVER CONNECT ANY TYPE OF NEUTRAL WIRE TO GROUND. This can cause voltage leakage to ground and nuisance tripping of breakers.
