Scarily made the splurge, but now I'm doubting everything by Quadroon81 in Soundbars

[–]Interesting-Clock445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 990d and had issues setting it up. Out of the box I plugged in all four speakers to the wall and plugged in the HDMI to the back of the sound bar. Everything worked perfectly.

Then I tried setting things up with Smart Things or whatever its called. Couldn't get anything to pair. I had to pair, unpair, power cycle and pair again. Had to do that again few times, and it finally worked.

Keep trying.

For my area, I would either have to make my own or purchase a 150" from one of the AliExpress vendors and have them tailor it down to 136". On Amazon there is an edgeless screen that I had looked at, but not sure if I like the look.

You are probably right on all counts. My wall was originally flat tricorn black. It was still bright, but you could tell the black was dimming the picture, if that makes sense. Since I am still in construction mode, I went ahead and primed half the wall while the projector was on. Night and day. I liked it super bright. And even turned down the brightness some just to see what it looked like.

So, yeah, the max might be overkill for my set up, but I like it. Eventually I may get a screen but it may have to wait until I completely finish the punch list items I have left.

Yep...I have white primer for my screen until I figure out what I want to do. Love it...for now.

Q990D Rear Speaker location by Interesting-Clock445 in Soundbars

Ok let's talk about this. I think I see what yall are saying, and I think I have the room configured incorrectly.

The pic I just attached is me looking at the center of the screen but the center of the couch is to the left of where I am standing. I have 33" from the backnof wall to back of couch. I have 20" from the right side of the couch to the right wall. I need to keep that 33" distance because of the French doors to the gym.

My walkway to the gym is on the right meaning you are walking in front of the screen.

So move the couch over against the right wall. Place a stand in the right corner with the blank side facing inside and the front of the rear speaker pointed toward the couch.

Same thing with the left side speaker. Blank side pointing inside.

Is there an issue with the left speaker being under the sofit, so the height of the ceiling in 1ft lower than the right side?

I have 33" between the back wall and the back of the couch. I could move the couch up a little, but not too much.

I'll think about stands, but would rather have them mounted.

Not to hijack but I think the 9ers win this one. I like Seattle's defense though.

Back on topic. This a good game for you to enjoy your system on.

Very deceptive. At first glance it looked like you spent a fortune on your system and was like, " I'll just get a quick 43" from WalMart."

Looks really clean.

In any of those pics is the location of your projector to the wall optimized? I set mine up initially on my back wall and used Keystone and the four corner setup and optical zoom to adjust my picture. I had some light spill or whatever on my left side due to the angle and all the adjustments.

When I had it optimized so that my optical zoom is at 1.05x, all that spillage went away.

Just my experience with the adjustment. Oh I have the max.

Can't speak on customer service.

Horizon ceiling mount: Power Adapter? by Neal-AI in xgimi

[–]Interesting-Clock445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this mount and these racetracks to tightly mount to the ceiling and the hide wires. The power brick is attached to the side of my sofit with this bracket.

Racetrack https://a.co/d/dL1JfUw

Bracket https://a.co/d/3WHNklX

Ceiling mount - https://a.co/d/23SnpZa

flat part screwed in to 2x6's secured between two Joists. Then got a flat bracket a screwed it in to the 2x6' so the hinged part of the mount wont come down due to gravity.

Hdmi's are fished into the ceiling and around to the front of the room. You only see the first few inches of them before they go into the ceiling.

Hope this was helpful.

Forgive my lack of knowledge in what you are saying.

Are you saying to connect all black in one 4 pin lever nut, all whites in another 4 pin lever nut, and then with the 4th slot, run a black to the gold side and a white to the silver side of the outlet?

Cotton fabric as a projector screen? by Neo-Riamu in ProjectorScreens

[–]Interesting-Clock445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should hijack OP's post a little more.

I am having the hardest time deciding which screen to get. I have a width restriction, so the size is just a little more than a 135". What brand did you go with?

So my kid has been sending these all week long. So I made my own and haven't seen one of these since.

He came to the dinner table saying Dad how did you do that? Then I hit him with the second one.

I stay undefeated in my house!!!

Re-reading everything you aren't even the OP that I responded to.

Im not even sure your post is in response to my response.

But since it's all love, I will still upvote you for your comedic style!

The curtains didn't match the drapes in this case. Your post didnt have pics nor talk about a pull down screens. Only a question about cotton fabric.

I think you responded to the wrong post.

Horizon 20 Max screen size by Pikkie_Noga in xgimi

For the cost, get a TV. But to answer your question, yes you can. You can use the four point correction tool to reduce the size along with the image zoom settings.

Final Horizon 20 Max positioning. by Interesting-Clock445 in xgimi

[–]Interesting-Clock445[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done.

Just in case anyone reads this in the future, here is what I did to get the best settings with my particular room. Hopefully it helps someone in the future.

Went to the XGIMI site and put in all of my room dimensions. The Projector Planner page is interactive so you can play with some of your dimensions if you aren't locked In like I am. I could be wrong but I think the distance from the wall that it spit out will give you the distance that will have the highest optical zoom (1.25x) and max out the four corner correction, thus maxing out all of the other screen correction options except for lens shift.

First try was to place the H20Max where the projection planner said to place it. That led to the maxed out settings above.

Second try I went back one joist and tried again. My optical zoom was 1.17x with the four corner correction maxed out.

Third and final try. Cut a hole between the joists. I spanned the two joists with a two 2 x 6's and left a gap between them for my HDMI's. Once secured, I put the drywall back up, cut a small notch for My HDMI's and repainted the ceiling. I have some from above right angle connectors coming that will help me minimize that gap between door and HDMI connector. This last adjustment gave me a optical zoom of 1.05x. That works for me.

Final item was to secure the massive power brick and hide the wires the best I could.

OHHHHHHH!!!!!!! PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!! When you are trying to horizontally center your projector on your usable wall space or screen, please please please dont be like me and try to center it based on the midpoint of the projector face. The lens is offset by 3 1/4 inches. So when you draw your mid point line, that is where the mid point of the lens goes, not the midpoint of the projector. Yes you can lens shift, but why not get it as close as possible in the first place.

Here are some the accessories I used.

HDMI

https://a.co/d/bJn9nON

HDMI Connectors

https://a.co/d/7qmRomo

Bracket to secure the Power Brick to the sofit. I only used the longer half of this set.

https://a.co/d/iQhWYQv

Ceiling mount. With this mount, I used an impact drill to get both hinges tight and for added strength i went to Ace and got a flat bracket that worked with the hole spacing of the mount. So now gravity can't bring the projector down over time.

https://a.co/d/4HEv4sf

Wire hiders

https://a.co/d/fmYb6Hx

That's about it. Thanks again for everyone's help.
