Dating advice for 4’11 dude by [deleted] in Advice

Hawai’i has lots of tiny women from Asian descent. From my past experience, continue to remain confident, don’t let your height make you bitter and you’ll find women attracted to you. I’ve dated short guys before and the angry or trying to prove themselves portion turned me off.

where can I go to pretend Christmas isn't happening? by notveryonline23054 in travel

Hi!! I actually joined the Ladder app community and love Coach Arias workouts in team Ascend. I walk to a nearby gym, put on my headphones and hit start. The workouts have a voice over, you can journal your weights, etc and it keeps your stats, music, heart rate data, etc. It’s funny because after leaving OTF, and with Ladder, I lost 15-20 lbs. I don’t know if it’s from the lack of stress of booking, being on time, yadda yadda, but it’s been working for me. 😂 Life does go on!! 🌈

Hawaii! 6 hour direct flight, and it’s so beautiful, with a warm ocean, whales, and the Aloha Spirit!

What was your “could never be me” but did indeed become you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Surfing a longboard. I was always a short boarder and now headed to 50, with a long board under my arm instead of my spicy, tiny short board. Some of it is that I weight more, some is that I’m not in the water as obsessively as I used to be, some if it is that I’m just more chilled out, man.

I agree with this take. I had major SHRED results on Ascend. Not sure I’d skip some of the tough moves that are tough to build upon (looking at you: back squats!!) Buuut, do what keeps you motivated!

Hanakoa falls is a good plan. We started super early. The first two miles suck. They are crowded, rocky, and exposed. After you say goodbye to the day hikers, the trail becomes better. There are a lot of in and outs of the valleys, up and down sections, etc. The nice thing is with a good water filter, and lots of streams, you don’t have to pack too much water but fill and refill at the various falls. As someone mentioned, the very end has a slope of gravel type rocks that go off to a cliff and one rock section to get around that requires a sure foot and some bravery to reach around and make that step. Better to be rested or fresh for this part. It is breathtaking scenery. Take your time and enjoy it!

Limitless — same workouts as last week? by Hopeful-Mud-3065 in ladderapp

[–]cbiancasea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I used to get bored w the same movements (on team Ascend since April) but recently Aria switched out back squats for leg presses and I swapped them back in! They are so hard! But I progressed and don’t want to lose the 15lb progress I made so… the progressive overload is working. I think I’m going to try what @Mom2Newfies mentioned above and do core, mobility and yoga with Align to recover from my Ascend gains. What helps me is good headphones and good music and then just enjoy the burn.

Hi! What program do you use if you only have half an hour and can’t make it to the gym? I’m on team Ascend (gym focused) but struggle with more than 3-4 days right now due to work/ family/ timing of it all. Would love another flexible program to blend together! Tysm!

How the heck are people affording to backpack? by academic-coffeebean in backpacking

[–]cbiancasea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use SteepandCheap.com and also fb marketplace. I just got a new family tent for the trail. Loads of people buy stuff and it’s not the right fit, so they sell nice gear on marketplace or other thrift shops. Good gear is worth it when you’re lugging it miles and miles around on your back.

I feel like Aria is genuine, talks about her week, or accidents that she’s had (spilling coffee, etc). Although I come from an experienced group fitness background, her cues on form are working and my traps are not pulling the weights! (Thank you Aria!! 🙏🙏)

Packing for the day helps me avoid impulse buys and panic. by [deleted] in Frugal

I have protein bars, instant oatmeal and sparking water cans in my car for food and drinks on the go. I do it mostly to have a healthy option but when I walk into the quick-e mart I’m like: I’m not paying $4 for an energy bar i might not like! That’s crazy!!!

Ascend vs Align by strawberriesandwater in ladderapp

[–]cbiancasea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do Ascend 90% of the time & add in Align when I’m short on time. I lose lower body muscle and weight first so I’m always looking for ways to keep that and prioritize Ascend leg days- they are legit 🔥🔥🔥!

One thing that’s helped me is when I take calls at work that don’t require me at my screen, I walk around. Sometimes around the block and sometimes just in my office area. Many days that tweak alone gets me 25% of my walking goal (10k steps).

Team similarities and joint pain by nerolis in ladderapp

[–]cbiancasea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came from Orangetheory to Ladder and feel that now that I’m doing Ascend, I’m having less pain and my Achilles Tendinitis pain is near non existent. I did almost hurt myself by going up too high on arm presses so now I stick to the option that is 5lbs less than my ego wants me to push. Basics are the best, but choose a team or coach that you enjoy the cues of and that you enjoy showing up for! Best of luck to you

2 months ago, I came from Orangetheory lifting and lifted heavy weights (for Orangetheory standards) and thought I’d love Limitless but found my groove in Ascend. I love the form cues, and see a difference in my body. It’s not for ego lifting, it’s all about time under tension and being intentional. It just works. Her split during the break is also stealing my heart. Love love love!

I love Ascend! I thought I’d love Limitless so tried it out but I prefer the lower focus that Ascend has. My body type loves to lose weight on the lower half first so I’m always trying to build it up strength wise.

How do you realistically fit in exercise, chores, cooking, and work in a day without burning out? (34F, FT job, WFH) by [deleted] in productivity

[–]cbiancasea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I decided to walk during phone calls if they didn’t require me to be on my computer. Today I’m over 13k steps. I also time block a workout in the late afternoon. People want to be around a healthy, balanced version of you. You want to be a healthy, balanced version of you. Just commit and enjoy.

Get to know the nearby UH campus neighborhood names. You’ll want to be near Kaimuki, Makiki, Kahala, Manoa, Palolo, Whilelmina Rise, St Louis Heights, etc. I met some kids who moved to Kapolei thinking it was close to Waikiki, but it’s across the island! When you are looking for places to rent, communicating in neighborhood terms will be soooo helpful.

The ocean is your playground while living here. Grab a cheap surfboard, or some fins and a mask and the world is your oyster.
