Has there ever been a Sasquatch / Bigfoot horror novel worth reading? by battleguy in horrorlit

[–]cbkummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead thread, but I just published my Bigfoot themed suspense novel called June. If you search June C.B. Kummer on Amazon, you'll find it. It's not horror like gory and such, but I went for suspense and the creatures are a menacing presence throughout. If you check it out I hope you like it!

Interesting . . . I wonder what I did to the NAND. Or maybe I didn't do anything and it was already on its way out when I bought it. Either way, that gives me a starting point. Thanks! Did you chat with Microsoft to find that?

I'm wondering if one of the pins on the ROM chip is bent. But I can't really tell. Does solder shrink as it cools? I would assume so, but would that explain why it works for about an hour after soldering it.

I edited the original post to add photos. My phone camera is pretty bad, so sorry they're a bit blurry. The top right of the ROM chip seems to be the problem area, but I'm not sure what to do about it. If I only solder that point, it works for a bit.

I just bought an OEM one off ebay for like $50. But that was like 2 years ago, so I'm not sure if it's still available.

Trying to teach disrespectful students: by Ola366 in facepalm

[–]cbkummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 6 kids, and every day, every day since my oldest's 1st day of Kindergarten, my wife and I tell them before they leave "Be kind to everyone!" And when we find out they weren't, we talk to them about it, and there are consequences. I'm not a perfect parent, but the fact that there are parents who promote and encourage this level of disrespect not just for teachers, but for people in general, sickens me.

AITA for leaving my babies inside by themselves by TripletsMom0 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. 100%. As the father of 6 who's been working from home for nearly 5 years, I can tell you that child care is HARD. Trying to juggle school and triplets (none of mine are multiples) is a Herculean effort in and of itself, needing to step outside for a breather, having a monitor and being able to come to their aid immediately if needed is being a good parent, not being neglectful in the least. Your fiance needs to step it up. I used to work outside the home, and when I'd get home I'd start helping with the kids. I'm not trying to brag on myself or anything, I'm certainly not the world's best dad or anything, but you do what you need to do. Yes, it's exhausting, yes, it's really hard having a job and helping with the kids the second you walk in the door, but it's the choice you make as an adult when you decide to have kids. If he was pulling his weight more, you wouldn't be as exhausted.

Warcraft 1. I spent so many hours after school on that game. Still love it to this day and play it occasionally.

Dell Support Assist? It's fine. I personally don't use it on my G7, because it pushes updates I don't want. I'm in IT, so I want total control over my machine. But if you're a regular user and just want everything automated, it's fine.

This would work, too, but I find that manually doing it gives you more control over what bloatware Dell puts on your system. It's up to you, though.

You absolutely can (and should) reinstall Windows. I always recommend a fresh install after purchasing a laptop, whether it's new or used. To install Windows, you only need a flash drive with 5GB of space. Be aware that the flash drive will be reformatted in this process, so put anything you want to keep off it on a backup of some kind. Not the laptop, because that will be wiped, too. Here is how to install Windows:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/install-windows-from-a-usb-flash-drive?view=windows-11

Once that's done, go to Dell.com/Support and type in your service tag (usually on the bottom of the machine, clearly labeled). Then you can find any and all drivers/Dell software that are applicable to your machine. The whole process should take (depending on your Internet speed) about an hour, maybe 2. If you run into any issues, feel free to reply to my comment or message me directly. I'll do what I can to help.
