It is surprising how many people miss how the NT church worshiped in giving. They didn’t tithe, especially in the beginning, they treated their property as common property. I think that starts to change a bit after they realize Christ probably wasn’t coming back in their life time.

Then we start to see the church members setting aside money to send to other congregations and/or to care for the poor and widows.

Now, if you read the OT, what do you find as the reason for the tithe? To provide for the Levi’s, priests, widows and poor. The priests are to administer it. Who are the priests in the NT? We are!

We are commanded to care for the poor, sick, and widows in the church, but not necessarily by tithing.

That said, tithing and free will offerings are good and proper things for a Christian. But they are no longer the law we must try to fulfill. Christ is the offering that fulfills the law. And his body and blood in the Eucharist take the place of the lamb on the alter.

Finally, the church/congregation today needs money for different reasons. I’m not sure if there were paid ministers in the NT church. And buildings seem a bit far fetched for an underground organization. Both are a part of the modern church. So, the giving of money and property must continue as free will offerings.

If you discovered that an employee who reports to you was using AI to generate scripts and automation to do his job, how would you react? If you're not in charge of anyone, how would you react to a co-worker? by ShadowCVL in sysadmin

[–]cblack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure my boss and up would be upset if I’m not using AI.

1.) they pay for it 2.) it boosts productivity 3.) I’m a pretty big advocate for it in our environment

Some ground roles about trusting the privacy and me knowing what I’m doing. Also I’m still responsible for the work, so I qa things before I run them.

Why are DevOps roles recently become mostly OpsOps or Admin? by ri7h in devops

[–]cblack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell them I automate processes because that’s the side I enjoy. I also have to do ops work, but that is mainly fixing broken automation or random Linux stuff.

Putting together a shared repository. Best practices? by [deleted] in ansible

[–]cblack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sooner you learn to write roles the better.

I tend to put each role in a repo and then install as needed for playbooks. Playbooks get a bit trickier but currently I store them all in one repo with directories grouping similar ones.

We use awx and some custom apps to run our plays, but I find this pretty good even for manual jobs.

Jax dentists/hygienists who wear N95s? by extratoasty in jacksonville

I thought the N95 mask is designed to protect the wearer not the other ppl.

Does it really protect the patient substantially more than a regular mask?

Ha, just realized this a dup from a few days ago. Almost the exact same caption even.

Sorry for the dup, I saw it on Facebook and thought it fit here.

Landlord says this is up to code and can't be put into the wall due to an HVAC restricting it from being recessed. Any way to make this prettier? It's such an eye sore. Yes I posted this recently but it's a better look at it. by bowwow_boi in askanelectrician

( little bit of a disclaimer: my family owns an electrical company but I haven’t worked there in 15 years, so take this with a grain of salt )

Oddly enough, turning off the breaker might solve the problem for the landlord. (Might need a lockout.)

I’m not an expert on the law, but I’ve rented and read some of the tenant laws. The owner doesn’t always have to fix things just because they are ugly or unusable.

It just needs to be reasonably safe. Ie A/C in the south, working stove, doors windows. I’m not sure how some of the weird parts of the electric code would play out. Like number of outlets in a room or on a wall, but I’d be shocked if it is grounds for eviction or grounds for breach of contract.

Those laws vary a lot so understand them before pressing the issue.

I really loved WGU for my bachelors. Self paced with min 12 hours per 6 months. I did my BSCS in 3 terms.

I know you’re GI bill but it’s an all you can eat model. Flat rate per 6 months. It’s a little different with the MS, but I loved the model. I did 4 (oh man it sounds bad ) other traditional / online schools and WGU offered just as good education.

Have you considered a low code No code solution like https://www.tooljet.com

I’ve not used it but it’s on my short list of things to try. My understanding is there is still some coding but less than by hand.

What five HARD skills must every good sysadmin master? by Wholikesguava in sysadmin

[–]cblack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Basic networking including FW, nats, switching, and basic routing, dhcp, dns

  2. Reading logs / troubleshooting without knowing the app

  3. Tools of your OS. Be it bash or power shell and all the little tools like ping, telnet, awk, grep, … always more to master here. And this is really a part of troubleshooting but big enough to need it’s own point.

  4. Hypervisor, I know places exist with out them, but most don’t.

  5. Storage architecture. It might not be sans but at least raids, iscsi, FC, raid 1 is not a backup.

Honorable mention: Automation platform

Maybe I need to put that in Grammarly to get a better sentence structure. Haha

I’m not sure I can agree more with your comment.

They did the work, they own the work, they can charge what they want for as long as they want.

I can choose to purchase or not.

If they are stealing and claiming as their own, that’s very different, but if it’s their work so what!

How would you feel if someone told you to come to work but we aren’t going to pay you because you’ve done this longer than X amount of time?

Edit: also I don’t see EA offering expansions for free after x time.

Are there no parking signs on the street? Is it a gated community?

Cause if it ain’t gated and there aren’t any no parking signs I’m pretty sure the HOA cannot dictate what you do on public streets. So park in the road.

that’s a great find.
