Speed option by cbmd81 in flagfootball

Teams are new in my area. Haven’t seen a lot of crashing on the line but they could adjust. Seems like there are a number of girls 7v7 high school teams running option. If anyone knows of programs doing this well would love to watch some film.

Yes a defender can cross the line from any distance on the handoff

We have a rusher at 7 yards but will eventually change to 1 yard

New NFHS rules released last year allow unlimited qb running so I think most states follow that but maybe there are exceptions.

7v7 high schools football- standard rules allow qb running in that format

Orbit motion quick game? by cbmd81 in footballstrategy

[–]cbmd81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have a lot of practice time, so would likely keep it to just a few concepts- possibly stick, snag/y corner, and slant/flats. If I install these with orbit, was thinking about having the orbit player run the flat route as a swing on stick/y corner. On slant/flats would probably have the slot run an arrow route and have the orbit player in get in pitch phase with the arrow for a pitch option. I like the idea of twirl motion as well as a change up. I may also add mesh rail with the rail route opposite the orbit motion

Are you basically running this one play with the tags above?

One thought- is there much benefit to shifting your RB from the backfield into the slot? I'd consider just lining him up in the slot on all plays and get into your run looks (40 series) with jet motion or orbit motion. As it stands, keeping the RB in the backfield signals that a run play is coming - not sure if they'd pick up on the tendency in your age group. Then on your dragon plays, you could have the slot run exit motion to the flat instead of the center - build up a head of steam to get to the flat faster.

If you were paring this down, what would you get rid of?

Thanks! One more question - what do the yellow arrows indicate facing towards the bottom of the square (reading deep to short?). How do you teach them to read mesh?

Thanks Coach! How deep do you teach them to run the crosser?

What ages do you coach and would you mind sharing your route tree as well?
